Mick Jones Will Release First-Ever Foreigner Band Biography, ‘A Foreigner’s Tale’
By Nick DeRiso October 21, 2016 10:43 AM

Foreigner‘s first-ever official biography will arrive just in time for the band’s 40th anniversary. Titled A Foreigner’s Tale, the book retells their journey to 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 Top 30 hits in the words of Mick Jones, the group’s founding guitarist and producer. It’s due in 2017 via Rocket II Books, and will be sold exclusively through foreignerbook.com. Fans are encouraged to register for updates, special discounts, early delivery and even a chance to have your name published in the biography.

A Foreigner’s Tale takes a comprehensive approach, tracing back to Jones’ childhood in England in the ’50s through early work with Silvie Vartan and Johnny Hallyway – a stint that included touring with the Beatles – then to time with Leslie West and Spooky Tooth. By 1976, Foreigner was taking shape around a new partnership with singer Lou Gramm. The band eventually hurtled Jones to stardom with songs like “Juke Box Hero,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Urgent,” and the No. 1 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is,” among others.

The bio is completed with photographs from Jones’ personal collection, including rare and candid shots, along with items from his record and guitar collections, and Foreigner artwork and memorabilia. A new Foreigner tour will coincide with the release of A Foreigner’s Tale, with details to follow soon.

The band’s latest studio album, 2009’s Can’t Slow Down, was a Top 30 hit. More recently, Foreigner released In Concert: Unplugged, a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, one of Jones’ preferred charity organizations.

Excellent! I'm in for this. Two of my fave bands, "Spooky Tooth" and "Foreigner" led by Mick plus all of his great session work. Should have great reminisces here.
