i'm guessing not. I read a library copy last night, got through the first three chapters. So far, this thing is reading like a Lennon bio.
Anyone else read this? This book was a big deal when it came out, was supposed to be the ultimate Beatles bio.

I read it. It's terrific. It starts off more with Lennon because he was the impetus behind the band's getting started. He does a particularly good job with the Beatlmania years, but seems to lose interest around the time they go to India. Still, I found some good info about the recording of Abbey Road.

Was it around the time the Anthology book came out? Because I'll take first person accounts any time over some third or fourth party.

If you can find a copy for $4 like I did, it could be worth your while. I think you can find a cheap copy on AmazWAN. It's as big as a Bible. HUGE book.

I've had that one for a while, but it's still in my "to be read" pile.

Thanks.

I'll keep an eye out for it. I still need a copy of the most recent edition of the Hunter Davies bio.

And Hanzo, not to be the thread police, but did you do know there is a dedicated subforum here for music-related books?

No, I didn't. I go thru IMWAN via "View Active Topics" and assumed the ICEbox was the all purpose board. My bad.

No bad at all, just that you'll find plenty of Beatles (and other music-related) books there, most with IMWAN-friendly links. Check it out!

Billy, A paperback version was issued, but it's still the same massive size. Jay
