James Fry III is penciling the minieseries, and the first pages that I've seen look sweeeeeet!

The first film is all you really need to see unless you're a completist. Granted, there is some neat stuff in DARKMAN II -- Larry Drake's encore as Robert G. Durant, the "Darkcave," Darkman's private subway car, Kim Delaney, and Renee O'Connor -- and even a couple of good scenes in DARKMAN III. But Sam Raimi's involvement was only as producer.

(And there aren't nearly enough special features on any of the DARKMAN DVDs! Come on! I want commentaries from Sam and "Making of" features!)

This sounds so cool. I loved the trio of movies when they came out. Occasionally, I catch the first one as a Saturday matinee on some TV channel.

I love James Fry III's art.

Wow, neat! Busiek and Fry worked together ages ago on LIBERTY PROJECT, if I'm not mistaken. (And I'm not - I just checked!) Fry did some awesome work at Milestone on BLOOD SYNDICATE and he did a bunch of CAPTAIN MARVEL fill-ins that I liked. I loved the first DARKMAN movie, I'm glad to see Roger getting some new comics work, and I'll definitely be picking this up!

Thanks for the info, Roger. Fry is a very good artist. IIRC, he also did a lot of STAR TREK comics for DC several years ago. I should put the DARKMAN dvds on my Netflix queue.

The first two issues are fully plotted, and I've heard from James that the first issues is penciled. Now I guess we're just waiting for DF to get approval from the studio suits on the art so that I can start scripting the first one.

Always a lot of "hurry up and wait" on these licensed projects.
