Craig Taubman, who runs the label Craig & Co., has been in a very generous mood this year. Earlier, he had a collection of Jewish music for the High Holy Days that was free for a time (it's not anymore) and now he's (for now) gifting us with this collection of Hanukkah tunes. There's a diverse group here, too. Quite a bit of modern folk, but also rock (Naomi Less, Yael Meyer), Pop (Michelle Citrin's great George Michael adaptation
"Pass The Candle"), Klezmer (The Klezmatics), even comedic rap (Smooth-E). And I believe I even spotted one of Craig's Lounge Jazz cuts on here (though I like his uptempo folky
"Maoz Tzur" better). And, OK, it isn't as modern or indie rock as the late lamented J-Dub label was. But it ain't bad. For free, it's pretty good.
So don't complain that there just isn't any good Hanukkah music when Craig has gone to all this trouble. Don't be a schmuck! It's free. So download it already.
