seeing the latest debacles with bonus tracks (america - the band tribute) i thought i'd try to get a jump on the new lucinda williams album "west" coming out in 2 weeks.

i know she wrote enough for a double album, so i was wondering if anyone knows of any bonus tracks for this CD.

From what I've been reading, there were a number of songs played live over the past year or two that didn't make the record... whether they were even recorded is anyone's guess, but I guess it makes tracking down some of the live material worthwhile.

Yes...."Jailhouse Tears" was a crowd pleaser. I was hoping for that to be included on West.

I haven't heard about any bonus tracks as of yet.......I'm thinking that "Gentle On My Mind" will be a bonus track on some release. It was produced by Hal Wilner, who produced West, so I'm thinking it might be similar in sound to some of the rest of the album. (I have yet to hear her version of this, so I'm just taking an educated guess on that one)

she sings it over the closing credits of "talledega nights".

Yeah I still haven't seen the movie yet, and I've been trying to find the song myself and I know you have also tried to locate it. If I do stumble on it, I'll be sure to let you know about it. Hopefully we will get it as a bonus track on 'West'

Well, so far, I'm seeing the best price for West to be at Wal-Mart for $9.72 (no apparent bonus songs)

Best Buy- $9.99 (no bonus tracks)

Target - $10.99 (no bonus tracks)

However, Target does mention a Japan import due on 2/15 for $34.49 (no details or tracklisting)

Circuit City- $13.99 (no bonuses) plus they list the LP for $19.99.

Oh by the way, Circuit City does specify that the cd will be a digipak

I'm also looking forward to this release. I'm on a Lucinda kick since Renny turned me on to her.

btw....you can order the Deluxe Edition of "Gravel Road" at BMG or Yourmusic. It lists for $11.98 at Yourmusic but with discount codes you can get for even cheaper at BMG. Picked it up for under $9.

from what i understand best buy will have 2 exclusive bonus tracks on the "west" CD.

does anyone know how to find out what those might be? ("gentle on my mind" from "talledega nights" maybe?)

I went to their website and they had no mention about bonus tracks, but it was 3 days ago or so. Maybe they updated it since then.

i saw it at that DVD talk forum that jimfromny turned us on to a couple weeks ago.

it is priced $9.99 with "2 EBB bonus tracks" at least that is how it was worded.

hmmmm. I'm going to have to investigate this further. I still can't find any details about that Japanese import with 1 bonus track. I have seen a wide range of prices online, but no track details.

so far...nothing. Just checked BB and Target again, with the same results as before.

Best Buy should have their site updated later this week. As for the alleged Japanese bonus track, it's not entirely clear whether it even exists - some vendors mention an unspecified Japan-only bonus tracks, but others show the release with the same 13 tracks as the domestic.

Don't worry, Renny - you're not the only one keeping an eye on this!

This will be the first Lucinda cd that I'll be getting on day of release. I've been in withdrawals for new studio work since I saw her in June '05. Since then, I've made compilations of her various duets/appearances/rarities
