Description
Ritchie Blackmore is beyond doubt one of the all-time great guitar players. From his pop roots with The Outlaws and his many session recordings in the sixties, through defining hard rock with Deep Purple and Rainbow in the seventies and eighties and on to the renaissance rock of Blackmore s Night, Ritchie has proved that he is a master of the guitar across a multitude of styles. For the first time The Ritchie Blackmore Story tells the story of his remarkable career through extensive specially recorded new interviews with Ritchie himself plus contributions from many of his colleagues and admirers including: Brian May, Glenn Hughes, Lars Ulrich, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani, the late Jon Lord, David Coverdale, Gene Simmons, Joe Lynn Turner, Steve Vai, Graham Bonnet and Ian Anderson. This is the definitive story of a true guitar legend.

This sounds fantastic.

And, to have an official release on both CD and DVD of the Rainbow 1984 Tokyo show is awesome (although I have a rather good copy of the concert on DVD from Japanese laserdisc).

Without a doubt I will be getting this.

It has been a great few years for Rainbow fans and now Ritchie is returning to Hard Rock, if only for a brief while.

Yeah!

This does sound pretty damn cool...I'm in. I also have the 1984 show on DVD, but look forward to an official release. I wonder who the singer will be.

Nothing has been scheduled for domestic release yet. The UK pressings are NTSC, but Region 2.

Eagle has also region-locked most of their promo videos so that they're not viewable in North America. Here's the trailer from another source:

To clarify, does this mean Region 2, despite being NTSC won't play on my players?

I don't want to watch it on my computer.

I can't believe this isn't getting a US release.

Out of the box, most North American players won't do Region 2. If you have any doubts about being able to play these on your system, wait for (potential) domestic releases. Eagle's USA licensing currently appears to be in flux across the board.

Thank goodness, there are going to be domestic releases of the DVD and Blu-ray in January. Pre-order links for those are now up in the first post.

The Deluxe Book Edition (2DVD/2CD set) is still a UK-only release, however:

If it's only 1 CD domestically, does that mean the full Japan show is not available?

Don't trust any listing s until it gets closer.

From what I understand, the US release will have both DVDs and both CDs, but who knows?

I watched my Blu-ray last night. Man, did I really enjoy this. Cover everything from his childhood to his work with his wife. Who by the way is heck of a beauty and a very cool lady. The bonus is 45 minutes of more interviews which touch on all subjects.

You guys are going to love it!

If I understand this right, the bonus DVD is not coming out in the US?

No sale for me.

I will order from the UK.

The deluxe set is import-only, but it's cheaper by half to order it from a third party seller at Amazon USA:
