Description
The R.E.M. By MTV documentary is now available as a stand-alone DVD and on Blu Ray for the first time. The program includes the 111 minute documentary, as well as five deleted scenes featured on the REMTV box set and two trailers. It is also a great introductory piece for the REMTV box set with five seminal R.E.M. bonus performances pulled from the box:

- Find The River Live In Cologne, May 12, 2001
- Imitation Of Life Rock AM Ring, June 3, 2005
- Bad Day Live At Rolling Stone, Milan, March 18, 2008
- Man-Sized Wreath Live At Oxygen Festival, July 12, 2008
- (Don't Go Back To) Rockville R.E.M. In Athens, Greece, October 5, 2008

This material was taken from last year's REMTV box set:

Since that was released only on DVD, the new Blu-ray offers some value even to those of us who already bought the big box.

Here is the trailer for the documentary:

I saw this last night at the local mall movie theater with a couple of music buddies of mine, and we all really enjoyed it. Although I've been a big fan of R.E.M.'s music since the mid-'80s, I didn't really know much about the band members or the band's origin and early years. And it was great just to hear all of that good music. Before the film, rather than the usual commercials and movie trailers, the theater instead showed two or three concert excerpts, which I assume were from the REMTV box.
