The "Human Rights Concerts" is the collective name of the series of concerts presented by the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights organization Amnesty International in the years 1986-1998.

2013 is the 25th anniversary of the most high-profile of all the concerts in the series - the "Human Rights Now!" world tour. A six-week, five-continent, fifteen-nation, twenty-concert tour of the world in 1988 raising awareness of the human rights cause - headlined by Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour.

In celebration of this anniversary - and to raise further funds for - and consciousness of - Amnesty, the films of all the "Human Rights Concerts" have been digitally restored and are to be released in 2013 in DVD, audio and digital formats. Three of the four films have never been available in any format since their one-time-only airing on TV - making the upcoming release all the more exciting.

This website presents information about the original events and the various releases of the digitally re-mastered concerts. And it also provides a link to the website of Amnesty International so you can directly support this important organization that inspired the musicians to perform in these concerts.

The complete concert set will be released on a 6-disc DVD box-set in the Fall of 2013. The title of the box-set is "¡RELEASED!"

The DVD box-set will be released in:

•The World (except North America) by Eagle-Rock on Monday 28th October 2013

•USA & Canada by Shout! Factory on Tuesday November 5th 2013

There will also be CD versions of the music from the concerts released on the same dates.

The audio release in the World outside North America will be a series of four individual CD sets - one for each of the four concerts. Presenting a total of 89 songs from the concerts.

The audio release in the USA & Canada will be a 2-disc CD - also titled "¡RELEASED!" - containing 30 highlight songs from the four concerts.

In addition to the 6-disc DVD box-set and companion CDs - a single-disc DVD - and corresponding 2-disc audio CD - featuring 30 highlights from the concerts will be available throughout the World (except North America) via Eagle-Rock. Both the DVD and the CD are titled "GET UP! STAND UP!"

This is awesome news and for such a great cause.

It has taken me years to piece together the infamous 1986 show and I have almost all 11 hours from the MTV broadcast. No way all that is here, but this is a must have for me. Who knows what the will kepp in and edit but this should be great.

The CDs can get their own listing in the Music thread I suppose.

Wow-thanks man.

I am impressed at what was included. I still have far more than the 1986 show has with almost all 11 hours. A shame they didn't include the entire Hooters set including that amazing version of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds".

Many of the 1986 sets are complete including Jackson Browne, Peter Gabriel, U2, Lou Reed, Bryan Adams and The Police (at the time their last show ever) and what looks like most of Miles Davis (Carlos Santana also jammed with him-not sure if that's here).

Anyway, I am very much in depending on price.

Not sure what the CDs will have.

I'm probably interested in 25% or so of the material. Too bad this is from Jackson Browne's worst period (both him & Bruce Cockburn decided to add a major Latin American flavor to their music at around the same time as a response to Iran Contra, etc; & musically I'm just not into "World Music". My ears & mind are pretty set on Western/European melodies.

Jackson's set was great actually that day but I hear ya with where he and others were trending at that time and usually to decreasing sales.

This seems to be the final track listing and looks like what was posted above though it's too long for me to compare:

In 1986, the international human rights watchdog group Amnesty International celebrated their 25th anniversary by staging a benefit concert tour, "Conspiracy of Hope," in which a handful of leading rock and pop artists (including U2, the Police, and Lou Reed) showed their support for AI and their work. "Conspiracy of Hope" was the first of several tours that would be staged to raise funds and increase awareness for Amnesty International, and ¡Released! The Human Rights Concerts brings together filmed documents of five different benefit shows staged between 1986 and 1998. Artists featured include Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, Green Day, Miles Davis, and many more.

Got the 6 DVD set new from Discorama for $39 so I am pleased.

I still have more from the original broadcast on MTV from 1986 then what's here, but I was also missing part.

This is still an awesome thing and for a wonderful cause.
