In March 2011 Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their Back On The Road tour to Japan, a country with which they'd always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in their droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest gigs of their distinguished career. This film follows the band on that tour combining full length live tracks with behind the scenes footage which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans love affair with Aerosmith and their music.

Surprisingly good! I wasn't a fan of the interviews in between songs, but I'll take it as it is. Some Aerosmith is better than no Aerosmith.

Repeat: My usual music blu-ray ?: Does anyone know the audio bit rate? (i.e. is there a hi res 2.0 audio option)?

Geff,

The Blu-ray lists DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and LPCM 2.0.

The performances are taken from different cities in Japan. The thing that I like about this disc is that the songs are the old classics (except Living On The Edge) and they're done very well. My only gripe is that Hamilton and Whitford aren't given enough "face time" during the Blu ray. Whitford does get to let it rip on the lead up to Last Child. He's a very underrated guitarist. He's on the same level with Perry but does a different style.

I haven't seen them since the Pump tour back in 1990 (Dallas). Before that, it was Permanent Vacation (1988), Back In The Saddle reunion tour (1984) and my second concert ever back in 1978. This Blu Ray does them justice.

Keep in mind, I was skeptical of it because I don't like much of what they've put out since Pump.

I saw them 3 times in the dreadful 70's drinking days (better albums, but they couldn't play live to save their life!). I've only seen videos of the band sober & live.

I did see the Draw The Line tour and they were sloppy sloppy sloppy. But it was a fun night at the Nassau Colisum.

When that happens, you have to get as messed up as they are. That way, they'll sound good.

yeah, I imagine in 1978 I wasn't feeling much pain either that evening. :)

I was 15 at my first Aerosmith show (1978) and I was so close to the stage (2nd row to the near left by the speaker stacks) that I probably couldn't tell if they were sloppy because it was so loud. Plus, being that close to them was amazing in itself. I was literally in front of Brad Whitford most of the night.

A friend of mine literally went deaf for 3 days in the 70's from the volume at a Wishbone Ash concert. It impacted my hearing for a few hours.

Yep, my left ear rang for hours after that Aerosmith show.
