I hear you, but for what it's worth the coupon code "save20now" does get it down under $200, which is less than $5 per disc and less than $40 per season. Still a very big investment.

If you're not nice
Anywhere from six months to a year from now, it will end up in general release at Amazon and be much more reasonably priced, same as has happened with just about all of Time Life's "exclusives" to date. It really just comes down to whether or not you can stand to wait for it. It's like Hip-O Select's "exclusives", what we're paying for is the earlier shipping date.
My attitude, born not only of patience but of lethargy , is that most of these monster super uber deluxe exclusive thingies are of material that's already 30 or 40 years old. So I figure I can wait until they're 31 or 41 years old.

I'm waiting for the Batman TV series to see the light of day...BUT I do remember sitting in front of the TV watching this show. I had the Steve Austin doll where you can see thru his bionic eye from the back of his head. We had the BEST TV shows back then.

Same here. And I am in total agreement, Mark. I also had the giant bigfoot action figure as well. And we had the best toys. Wish I'd held onto mine.

Did you have the Evil Knievel doll and motorcycle? It came with a wind up thingy where as soon as you stopped winding it up, it took off. That was a great toy. You're right Chris...we did have the best toys. Although, you do look much younger than me...I'm 45.

OK...how about a pinball baseball game. Depending on where the pinball landed, single, double, triple, home run, the field had men in place and moved in a circle. It was a green colored game...with I think orange or red men that fit into slots.
OR, the old vibrating football game played on a big peice of metal where the guys moved as the game vibrated. Of course the football was a piece of cotton.
My son still plays with my old handheld baseball game made by Mattel. The year is 1978 on the back and it still works great...very primitive though based on today's games.

Remember the roll up skin on the arm to expose the bionics?

Yes, I'm one whole year younger, Alan. And yes, I too had the Evel Knievel motorcycle.

All of the toys today are computer based and hand held. Yeah, we had our share of hand held games, but we had toys we had to wind up, use our imgaination, stuff like that.

Electric Football...Electric Baseball, with the circles for outs, and the arm in center field that you used to throw runners out.
Had Evel Kneivel. Remember SSP cars? With the big T-cord that you fed down beside the wheel and pulled to power it?
How about Super Toe Football?
There was a hockey version, too - had both of them. I was thrilled that I could kick a field goal longer than Tom Dempsey's record.
Alan
Super Toe Football was awesome. They have been selling a version of it at Target (and probably elsewhere) the last few years during the Christmas season.

I must say that the empty eyesocket effect always struck me as a little creepy, but I loved playing with my Steve Austin toys and changing the bionic arms and legs, and rolling up the latex skin to reveal the bionics beneath. Found these websites that show some of the Bionic toys:

Just this past weekend, I saw Lee Majors on a hearing aid commercial for something called a bionic ear. His last few lines were "it won't cost you 6 million dollars, but you'll feel like it's worth that much." I have to say...I felt old.

Uh, that was Mark, you fresh whippersnapper! I've got more like 36 months on you, sonny!

Well, I waited it out for over a year and now they are making the individual seasons available separately. YAY! All I really want to own is the original pilot tv movies and the first short season anyway. That, plus the BIONIC WOMAN Season 1 are all I need to satisfy my bionic jones.
Watching these pilot movies, I had a huge flashback moment. They were going for a James Bond vibe in these and they had this hip and horribly lame theme song sung by Dusty Springfield. So, I grabbed a vid clip offline and clipped it down to just the theme song without narration.
Check it out! It brought back some great memories for me because when I was a kid in Puerto Rico, our local movie theater kept the reels for these 2 movies as fill-ins whenever the scheduled film reels didn't show up. You should've heard the cheers go up from all us kids when we'd show up for something like CHARLOTTE'S WEB, but instead SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN started playing!
