If this track listing is correct, this could be reallly sweet! There's some useless crap, but this is a pretty promising comp of the classic era.

I agree-don't know if I need more than half hour of "Wring That Neck" back to back, but what are ya gonna do? It really looks cool. Hope they do one for 1984-present as well.

Looks very cool. My problem, is I rarely seem to watch music dvd's. I think I have 3 DP's amongst the 200-300 i haven't watched............

Nonetheless, this does look cool.

OK, here's the scoop on this DVD...

On 1 June 2009, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the Deep Purple two-disc set “History, Hits & Highlights 1968-76” [Cat No EREDV726]. This release features the classics: “Smoke On The Water”, “Hush”, “Speed King”, “Black Night”, “Child In Time”, “Strange Kind Of Woman”, “Burn”, “Mistreated” and many more and includes fantastic full length performances from all four line-ups of the original Deep Purple. Clocking in with nearly five hours of entertainment this is simply essential for all Purple fans [See over for the full tracklisting].

“History, Hits & Highlights 1968-76” is packaged as a double amaray case inside a slipcase with lavishly illustrated booklet of memorabilia making it the ultimate collectors’ package for early Deep Purple.

This new two disc set covers the initial phase of the band’s existence through four different line-ups from 1968 to 1976. If this is at all reasonably priced, I'm in. If not, there's always netflix........ If it is expensive, keep in mind that most Eagle DVD's seem to hit the cutout bins within 2 years of release.

Every Eagle DVD I've ever purchased has been very reasonably priced. I'd hope that's the same here because I do want to get this.

I'd like to be in on this one, but it's priced too high. Will wait for used or cutout.

Picked this up last weekend. Excellent DVD, many things I have never seen. Includes Purple MK1 doing the Beatles "Help" in Denmark I believe ( their you go Goog) and even includes a short but rare Tommy Bolin interview.

Very well done and easily worth the $22.00 I paid for it, and I still haven't seen Disc 2 yet! :}

That did it! Now I have to get this. Cheapest I've seen so far is around $19 or so, so I'll have to keep searching. But, I really want to get this one. How is the audio on these clips?

A lot of time Eagle offers a cd quality lpcm audio track, which is much better then Dolby or DTS.

I just rented this from Netflix along with Deep Purple: Heavy Metal Pioneers. While it was great to see classic footage I'd never seen before -- Never, never before -- I was wondering if there's a more comprehensive documentary of the band, particularly the first decade.

That's the best there is, the Classic Album Series - Machine Head has a brief history of the band as well, worth getting.

I've seen that one, too. I just think that given the band's history, the documenataries on these discs are too short.

Thanks for letting me know!
