I have my doubts about this being legit. I have the rare OOP Japanese VHS release of this show which was called Speak Of The Devil. I also have it from when it was an MTV Saturday Night Concert in 1982.
It is a legendary, killer show (despite Ozzy's processed vocals), and to have an official release would be sweet, especially with a companion CD and tour book. Brad Gillis's guitar solo was incredible-he is the master of the whammy bar and Tommy Aldridge's drum solo was nuts too. Plus, there is a rare instrumental jam between Gillis, Aldridge, Sarzo and Airey that cooks.
And, you get to see Ozzy's midget Ronnie get hung as well as Iron mans erving him tea.
This is one to keep an eye on, and we'll see how official it is and what the audio/videos sources are as well. Here's hoping it's fof real because this is one hell of a show!

From Anti-Music.com:

A reader sent us over some info on an upcoming DVD release of a classic Ozzy Osbourne concert from 1982. We did confirm through Amazon that it is in fact set for release on June 29th in the US. Here is the announcement: Blizzard Of Ozz is a concert film from the Ozzy Osbourne tour of 1982; a tour that had its fair share of success and tragedy.
This DVD release features a concert filmed in Irvine California for television. At the time Ozzy Osbourne was touring to promote his second solo album Diary of A Madman a tour that was marred by the tragic death of guitarist Randy Rhoads in March 1982 in a freak flying accident. By June 12th 1982 the band were scheduled to play at the Irvine Meadows amphitheatre Irvine, California. By this time Brad Gillis who had replaced Randy Rhoads had been playing with the band for almost two months and had a number of high profile concerts under his belt including a radio broadcast.

The set list which was a typical Ozzy set list of the time included numbers from both solo albums (Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman) including Over The Mountain, Flying High Again, Crazy Train, I Don’t Know , Goodbye To Romance, Suicide Solution and culminating with three Black Sabbath classics (Iron Man, Children Of The Grave and Paranoid). The concert was televised and then subsequently released on home video in a slightly edited format. More recently the DVD has been available in Japan and elsewhere.

This deluxe package however includes not only the DVD but also the CD of the concert and a reproduction program from the tour.

1. Over The Mountain
2. Mr. Crowley
3. Crazy Train
4. Revelation (Mother Earth)
5. Steal Away (The Night)
6. Suicide Solution
7. Goodbye to Romance
8. I Don't Know
9. Believer
10. Flying High Again
11. Iron Man/ Children Of The Grave
12. Paranoid

Band Lineup: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Brad Gillis (guitar), Rudi Sarzo (bass), Don Airey (keyboards) and Tommy Aldridge (drums).

I bought one of those "Brazilian import" DVDs of this a few years back. Probably sourced from IP's VHS or a laserdisc, no doubt.

Should be interesting to see if there's any kind of improvement to the sound and video quality.

It's good that it's finally getting a legitimate release on DVD -- long overdue.

It's weird, however, that previous releases have been titled Speak Of The Devil and that this one is titled Blizzard Of Ozz, because it was recorded on the Diary Of A Madman tour. :o

Apparently, it's being released by a company called "Gonzo Distribution." Didn't realize Ted Nugent went into the music video DVD business.

Amazon's product info says it's an all region import, so we'll see if it measures up to or surpasses previous releases.

There's been some discussion of this release on a Randy Rhoads board. There's suspicion that it's a slightly edited version because the running time is 79 minutes.

There's also a fair bit of disappointment, especially given the title, because Ozzy has said that someone has shown him pro-shot footage of one of the Rhoads tours. Very vague on what it actually is, but Ozzy was quoted as saying it would be released this year, and given the title of this release, a few folks thought this was it. Incidentally, there are also rumors floating that there may be a pro-shot of the Blizzard tour that was recorded in a theater in New Jersey that supposedly taped all performances there. Some investigation was done, but nothing definitive has come out that I recall.

If they release a pro-shot of the Blizzard Of Ozz tour, will CGI be used to eliminate Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake from the footage?

Who are those guys? I've never heard those names before.

BTW, I just met Sharon and Ozzy, and to my surprise, they asked to take my picture. I felt a little odd afterwards, but it passed...

Just from reading your posts, I'm guessing this is a bootleg.

It's almost certainly a boot and I can't imagine the quality is better than my Stereo VHS which I transferred to DVD years ago.
But if it's a legit release, the CD and tourbook make it well worthwhile. I still say it's crap, especially with the bizarre title.
Why not call it No More Tears since it's not the right tour name anyway? Or the Osbournes? Wait-don't call it that. :-D

How is it, though, that this "Gonzo Distribution" can issue this? Ozzy is still signed to Sony, who owns his solo catalog.

At least the previous version, the "Brazilian import" was quietly put out there, seeming to come out of nowhere. Funnily enough, it was available at places like the now-defunct Suncoast video and Best Buy.

If I recall, Ozzy's band was called the Blizzard of Oz, even though the first album was called that also. I have the DOAM Tour book and of course Randy was in the tour book at that point. Did they redo the tour book with Brad Gillis? Mel Torme played with them when I saw the MSG-NYC show, just a week or so after Randy died. The radio broadcast from Memphis was fantastic. I have the above DVD also...was Ozzy's vocals redubbed? I was hoping for a RR live DVD but if this is also coming out, I'll pick it up also.

HOLY CRAP....talk about an error...Bernie Torme. I was reading an article about Night Court at the same time I was reading this. I don't think the Velvet Fog could play guitar in Ozzy's band.

Sorry boys...

The story goes that Ozzy thought they were asking him about using a "Velvet fog" effect onstage and he said "Yeah, man. Sure."

Then Mel showed up for rehearsals and the rest is Ozzstory.

We're talking about Ozzy, so both responses are appropriate.

Who knows? Bob & Tom play a Joe Walsh interview where he talks about getting together with Ozzy and talking about touring together in the 70s. Joe says, "Neither of us remember anything about them, but they must have happened because we have the posters."

I saw some actual audience-shot footage from the Blizzard Of Ozz tour on you tube. Rough quality, but you can definitely tell it's Randy Rhoads on guitar:

There's some audience footage from Chicago available as well, and a soundcheck from Texas.

We are still waiting for the release of this DVD. I saw Ozzy on tour around this period at Nassau Colisuem so I wonder if this DVD will jog memories (because those days are real foggy).
