The trend for bands revisiting their high water marks shows no signs of abating with news that Primal Scream are to perform their most celebrated work, Screamadelica, in its entirety at London's Olympia on Nov. 27. The event marks the first time that Primal Scream have played the album from start to finish.
Helmed by DJ Andrew Weatherall and featuring production contributions from the Orb and erstwhile Rolling Stones producer Jimmy Miller, the album -- which contains the classics "Movin' On Up", "Come Together" and the seminal single "Loaded" -- was originally released in 1991 to universal acclaim and came to be a major force in what was then described as the indie-dance crossover.
In recent times, bands such as Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions, Pixies and Slint have all revisited past albums, and the people behind All Tomorrow's Parties have turned such pursuits into an annual event. Coming up in May this year, Iggy and the Stooges will revisit their 1973 masterpiece, Raw Power, with guitarist James Williamson coming out of rock 'n' roll retirement. This is the second time the Stooges have done such a project, having torn through their 1970 album, Funhouse, back in 2005.
Tickets for Primal Scream's Screamadelica gig go on sale on Feb. 26.

Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica' setlist revealed ahead of London shows
Primal Scream are set to play their 1991 'Screamadelica' album in full in London this weekend (November 26, 27) – with a Spanish show they played on Saturday (November 20) giving a clue as to the setlist they're planning.
The band played a 'Screamadelica' gig at Barcelona's Sala Razzmatazz venue, performing a greatest hits set ahead of all the songs from that album.
They did not play 'Screamadelica' in order, mixing up the song order to end the show with 'Come Together'. The greatest hits set began with 'Accelerator' and also included 'Rocks', 'Swastika Eyes' and 'Burning Wheel'.
They play London's Olympia venue on Friday and Saturday.
Primal Scream played:
'Accelerator' 'Country Girl' 'Jailbird' 'Burning Wheel' 'Suicide Bomb' 'Shoot Speed/Kill Light' 'Swastika Eyes' 'Rocks' 'Movin' On Up' 'Slip Inside This House' 'Don't Fight It, Feel It' 'Damaged' 'I'm Comin' Down' 'Shine Like Stars' 'Inner Flight' 'Higher Than The Sun (Pts 1+2)' 'Loaded' 'Come Together'

Primal Scream bring 'Screamadelica' to London
Primal Scream brought their seminal 1991 album 'Screamadelica' to London last night (November 25), playing the first of their shows at which they're playing the record in full.
They played a greatest hits set at the Olympia venue followed by all the songs from the Andrew Weatherall-produced album, with frontman Bobby Gillespie telling NME the band weren't lapsing into nostalgia by re-visiting the record.
"It's not really reliving the old days," he claimed. "A lot of the songs we recorded in the studio and never played them live. 'I'm Comin' Down', 'Shine Like Stars' and 'Inner Flight', those are like new songs. It's not nostalgic at all, it sounds fresh."
When asked if the band could give the same live treatment to more of their records, the singer said no plans were in place yet. "Anything's possible, I can't see that far into the future," he said. "The band's sounding great and there's gospel singers in, it’s a big production."
Primal Scream are reissuing 'Screamadelica', remastered by the band and My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, next March. They then tour the album around the UK.
They play the Olympia again tonight.
