Product Description
VCI is excited to announce the movie edition version of the original 1940 classic "The Green Hornet". With the help of Green Hornet historian Martin Grams Jr.; VCI has edited a 2 hour feature cut movie from the original 13 chapter serial. The city is faced with rising crime and increased racketeering activity. Intrepid newspaper editor, Britt Reid (Gordon Jones) becomes the crime fighter the Green Hornet to take on the bad guys. As far as the police are concerned, the Hornet himself is the criminal. This misunderstanding enables Reid to operate outside the law to battle evil and injustice. Working along side the Hornet is the brilliant inventor/sidekick Kato (Keye Luke), the only person who knows the true identity of the Hornet. Watch as our heroes fight an infamous racket and put an end to the menace infecting their city.

Special Features
  • Complete (Unedited) Chapters 1 and 2 of the original serial

Honest to God I'm not trolling here, just expressing an opinion.

This, the radio plays or the 60's TV show seems to be the way to honor the tradition of the Green Hornet story. The ads for the new movie make me cringe. Not the vibe i remember. Then again I could just be getting older (hey you little bastards get off of my lawn) and the film will find a very receptive audience. Jesus, I'm both my parents and Andy Rooney.

I don't like that this is chopped to hell. Just show it uncut.

Oh, there are many versions of it available in uncut, Steve. And even a few legal ones. ;-)
Many of the best movie serials were also later released as condensed films. Many of them
also were improved as a result. I definitely understand wanting to keep them in their
original form, though. But, unless the viewer is wiling to watch just one chapter a week,
the serial format doesn't add to the excitement. It's novel for a chapter or two, but then it
starts to bore the modern audience.

I sorely would love to have the best copies of the originals available on many of these
great chapter plays—and the chance to edit features from them. Most of serials have
cringe-worthy scenes in them they should be removed, and other moments should be
cut just to improve the timing and suspense.
