After being discovered in a Detroit bar Rodriguez's sound struck 2 renowned producers and they signed a recording deal. But when the album bombed the singer disappeared into obscurity. A bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and over the next two decades he became a phenomenon. The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero.

I really can't recommend this enough! I'd never heard of Rodriguez until recently, but was impressed by not only his musicianship, but his humility. Buy this DVD or Blu-Ray, and then buy his two albums!

I've been a fan of Rodriguez since Light In the Attic reissued Cold Fact in 2008. Still haven't seen this film yet though I'm hoping to buy the dvd soon. Both albums are brilliant & highly recommend.

This just won an Oscar for Best Documentary.
