It will blow you away Brainiac McGee and it doesn't necessary matter what version actually you experience in my book. The visuals, the sound track by Vangelis and story line is the essence.

Wasn't this version one that was in the briefcase? Or is it an entirely new version?

I'll likely pass, at least until I see/read enough to know that this particular edition merits the shelf space. I have the multi-disc briefcase edition of DVDs (which preceded by a few months my owning a blu ray player) — plus the five-disc complete collection on blu ray, which I purchased about a week before getting the first player in 2008. There would never have been any question that this would be the first movie I would watch on that machine. An absolute game-changing masterpiece, my favorite sci-fi film and one of my five favorite movies of any type ever made. A framed one-sheet poster of "Blade Runner" hung in my living room for more than 20 years.

I have that 5 disc super set. It is crazy that a movie that underwhelmed is now such a classic it gets reissued every few years.
