The Rolling Stones 1978 tour of the USA in support of that year s Some Girls album is considered by fans to be one of their very best. The tour followed immediately on the release of the Some Girls album and by the time the band arrived in Texas in mid-July the album had hit the No.1 spot on the US charts. The tour took a back to basics approach, with the band and their music very much at the forefront and little or no elaborate staging. Filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, on 18 July 1978, this concert is typical of the tour with the Rolling Stones delivering a raw, energetic performance in front of a crowd who are clearly loving the show. Many of the tracks from Some Girls are included in the live set with a sprinkling of Stones classics from earlier albums. Originally shot on 16mm film, the footage has been carefully restored and the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multitrack tapes. I'll be all over this if it will play in my North American Blu-ray player (though I'd likely buy it anyway for the CD).

If it's from Eagle Vision, I'd expect a US release.

I'll trust this is better than the so-so looking (but pretty good sounding) clips that have been around for years. They absolutely butcher "Let It Rock" as well.
This is still cool and I'm in obviously as a Stones fantatic. I think 2011 has been one of the best years ever for vintage CDs and DVDs.

This film will be getting a theatrical release, coming October 4.

A never–seen–before concert movie which captures this world–famous band at the height of their musical career. Shot on 16mm at Fort Worth, Texas in 1978, the film has been upgraded to high definition with a 5.1 audio track. It includes a Sir Mick Jagger interview filmed in August 2011 where he introduces the concert and offers an insight into its significance in the band’s history.

Featuring many Stones classics including: Honky Tonk Woman, Tumbling Dice, Brown Sugar, Jumpin Jack Flash, Miss You and Beast of Burden.

I'm a little lost: While I understand what will be on the DVD and Blu-Ray, exactly what will be on the CD?

In the meantime, I'm glad to see the Stones digging out stuff like this. I believe I've heard bootlegs from this tour, but the only officially released material that pops into my mind is their sluggish "Saturday Night Live" performance from October of 1978 and the live version of "When The Whip Comes Down" on the "Sucking In The Seventies" comp.

Amazon USA has just listed domestic pressings of the DVD and Blu-ray, but apparently neither includes a bonus CD ...

It's possible that Eagle will be releasing a CD version separately in the States, as opposed to the DVD/CD and BD/CD packages listed in Alex's opening post which are coming out in the UK. Stay tuned!

Jimbo's link isn't working. Will the CD simply be the audio of the concert on the DVD?

Thats what I think it will be.....as its a visual event, I'm happy with the Blu-ray as I'd never listen to the CD anyway.

See, I'm the opposite--just give me the CD, something to listen to as I study, or drive...I really don't have the patience to sit on the couch and watch a concert.

I think Amazon had some weirdness last night. The Queen links weren't working properly either.

I picked up the CD/DVD combo yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a very good recording, and a terrific show. Haven't watched the DVD yet, but the CD is great. There is also some intriguing info in the liner notes. As you'd expect, there's a ton of unheard stuff in the vaults, including a 1975 show that was filmed. I hope that one is released next.

How did you get it a week before the release date?

My indie gives them to me as soon as they come in. I picked up this, Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School, and Some Girls.

How dare you get the Stones releases before I do! I demand you send them to me at once!
