Description
Formed in 1974, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes came out of the same New Jersey bar club scene as his now legendary contemporary and friend Bruce Springsteen. Like him, Southside Johnny was inspired by the classic R&B and Rock & Roll sounds of the Fifties and Sixties and fronts a dynamic and rocking big band famous for its spectacular live performances. One of these was this 1985 concert vividly captured in Germany. In it Southside Johnny delivers a blinding set consisting of such stage favorites as 'I Don't Want To Go Home', 'Love On The Wrong Side Of Town' and the Springsteen-penned 'Talk To Me' and 'The Fever'. Southside Johnny is highly-respected in both blues and rock circles and has built a loyal and substantial following over the years with his frequent touring. This DVD includes a special bonus concert, 'Having A Party', filmed in 1991 on Southside Johnny's home ground, the famous Stone Pony Club in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He is joined on one number by another local hero, Jon Bon Jovi.

Wow...I'm excited about this. There is so little documented on video of this great live performer.

UPDATE : There is no bonus CD with this release, just a single DVD.

Other than an almost unreadable menu screen, however, this is a great disc, with two primo shows of Southside and the Jukes, arguably in the midst of their prime. Decent picture, good sound, great performances, well worth picking up.

Thanks, NP3. I've updated all of the release details accordingly in the first post.
