During yesterday's press conference to announce their upcoming Summer Tour of Europe, Mick Jagger announced that there will be a new 4-DVD box set of performances from the A Bigger Bang Tour. Two of the shows will be the ones which had been previously been reported on in the press as having been filmed specifically for DVD. The two which will definitely be on the new title will be the Rio show and the one which took place in Austin. The other ones have not been announced yet. I'm personally pulling for opening night of the Hollywood Bowl. I remember reading absolutely fabulous reviews for this particular show. Mick mentioned that they are aiming for a May or June release. Then, later in the year, the Scorsese film (which will include archival footage-keeping my fingers crossed for Taylor Era footage as well as Brian Jones Era) of the Beacon Theatre shows will come out.

You know, I was thinking just last week, that the tour's been over for months and there hasn't been any talk of the obligatory live album or a DVD. guess I thought too soon! LOL
I just hope it's as good as the "Four Flicks" DVD set.

Hi Everybody,
I see that it is now confirmed that we will have to do another initial Best Buy gig in order to be the first to get this. In all likelihood, the price will be very reasonable just like it was when 40 Licks came out. So, mark June 12th for this 4-disc set documenting the latest tour.

Anthony,
The Stones are continuing the tour in Europe. Word has been going around that they have no immediate plans to record. In other words, it looks like there's going to be a lull.

Has anyone picked this up yet? I think it's interesting that there have been no posts since its release. Comments, anyone?

I have it, but I have not been able to make time to start watching it yet. Baseball season puts a lot of my listening and viewing on the backburner for part of the year.

There are some glitches on Disc 1. Everybody should check their copy out to make sure it doesn't need to be returned.

I didn't realize this was out already. I imagine Bestbuy has plenty of these in stock?

I was at a BB yesterday and they had at least 10 or so in the music dvd section, 4 up above the Rolling Stones section of cds, maybe 8 or so in the new releases aisle as well as displays of 4 or 5 at each checkout counter.

Yep, the BBuy in lower Manhattan has shelves full of copies. I suppose that $29.99 will be the standard price for months to come.

Jim,

Just got back from vacation yesterday and picked this up. Any specifics on the glitches available?

I can confirm that I have a glitch on mine. After I set my 5.1 and start to Play Concert, it runs for approximately 1 second and then doesn't play anymore. I'm taking a run over to Best Buy today and exchange the damn thing. I am so thankful that I'm as big a Stones fan as I am. I didn't wait two months to start watching this thing. I'd have gone through the roof.

Well, it goes from bad to worse (at least in my case). I got a second copy from my local area Best Buy. It also has the same defect on the first disc as well.
I put in a call to the national office and the person there said they had not heard of this problem before. I recommend to people that they let them know. I also told them about the existence of our board as well as the Hoffman Board and told them that I wasn't the only one with the glitch problem for Disc 1. I also told them to inform Corporate and Distribution as well.
I will keep you guys informed as to how things go with me. I am very much encouraging you to report on the progress of your experiences as well.

I had a lousy experience at Best Buy today. It seems that I will just have to keep going through a number of copies of the first batch they were sent. I told them that they need to get to Corporate and get another run indexed correctly. My player is a high-end Denon Universal player. My bet is that they weren't ecoded for Denon players and they need to change it.
My only problem I ever had with a DVD is when the Springsteen-Live In Barcelona came out. When fans reported the indexing problem, Sony set it up so that people could send in their faulty discs and get them exchanged for fixed ones. I hope Best Buy and the Stones camp gets on this and gets this corrected. As consumers, we should not have to wait until a second run is done and then have to spend another almost $30.00 for this.
On my first copy that I got, I even tried starting the program from the Songs Index section rather than Play Concert. It still froze up. I am going to see if it happens on the replacement copy I picked up the other day.

I tried to get things squared away with Best Buy today and now they tell me to keep getting discs until I get one which works. They said it would take until a 4th time around plus their noticing that it isn't working in one of their players before they would ask for any kind of a recall and pull stock from the shelves.
A kid I spoke to from corporate told me that DVD's are pressed like records and that it may be just my player. I told him that DVD's have to be encoded for DVDs to be able to play on different systems. I told him that's why consumers had to provide their DVD player brand names and model numbers in order for us to get the replacement disc for the Springsteen-Live In Barcelona when there were problems with that one. Plus, they keep telling me that they have not heard of this problem. My player is a Denon DVD-2900. To say that I'm livid is an understatement. They couldn't even find a contact number or e-mail for the company which made the discs for Best Buy.

I love this set! I only wish there was another complete concert instead of the stuff on Disc Four.

Now that it's the All-Star break, I was able to play around with the first disc of the set. Based on some advice I've picked up, I set up my 5.1 and then punched in Chapter 2. When I reversed back to Chapter 1, my disc wouldn't start again. So, I went back to 2 and then watched the whole first disc. I didn't have a problem with the extras.
After the home-run derby tonight, I will see how things go with the 2nd disc. Hopefully, there will someday be a new package of these which will be corrected for those of us with the Denon 2900's and I won't have to deal with this anymore.

The same thing happened for Disc 2 for me as well. I'll be watching Disc 3 today. Could some industry people please get the information out to the proper people to get this situation fixed up? I'd even pay to buy the set all over again if I knew I was going to be able to watch everything without any glitches.
