Musictap is reporting that Dylan's Unplugged project for MTV is being reissued as a CD + DVD in one package. The DVD is going to contain a couple of the songs from the CD that did not get shown on the original broadcast. So, I guess this is a reissue of the CD and the first time the television material will be on DVD instead of VHS. Am I correct or not? I'm really foggy on this one.
They also report the same is being done for Tony Bennett and Mariah Carey.

I have had the DVD for a couple of years now...which has a few songs not on the CD...wonder if it is a straight reissue...

The concert was released on DVD back in 2004. All video versions of the concert (VHS, DVD and even laser disc) contain 12 songs and include a version of "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" not found on the U.S. version of the CD. All 11 songs on the U.S. CD were included in the various video versions. Apparently the original MTV special from December 14, 1994 contained only eight songs, which is usually why the various versions of this concert are invariably touted as containing "new" or "extra" songs, even though MTV probably hasn't reran the aforementioned broadcast in probably a dozen years anyway.

I did learn a couple of interesting facts about this project at http://www.searchingforagem.com :

1. Quote: "Although it wasn't in the MTV broadcast on 14 Dec 1994, I Want You (from the first night - 17 Nov 1994) was included in 1995 PBS broadcasts of the MTV Unplugged programme in the USA in 1995 - it's not on any version of the CD album or video."

2. Also, some early pressings of this CD contained an obviously looped bit of crowd noise that can be heard throughout the performance of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door".

Well if 'I Want You' is included on the dvd, or if the cd includes the other songs, I guess I'l have to get it again...it is an excellent showing...

This version of "I Want You" is very affecting, and I don't know why it hasn't been included on any of the official releases.

The "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" loop will drive you CRAZY once you key in on it. I'm guessing the versions of that cd are now pretty rare.

I thought the copy on the press release for this DVD/CD was kinda poorly written. I don't really have a clear idea of what it's going to include.
