My wife and I usually rent a movie or two to watch over the weekend. Since renting the second season of Weeds two weeks ago (really great, by the way), we've been at a loss about what to see. Any recommendations? We generally like dramas, but also really clever comedies (Spinal Tap, Guffman, for example), occasionally a top-drawer thriller, and even a compelling documentary once in a while. We're not averse to taking chances. What would our local Blockbuster likely have that we probably haven't seen that you would really recommend?
Thanks in advance for anybody who bothers to make a suggestion.

"zodiac" was excellent.
"the queen" is much better than you'd think it would be.
"disturbia" was decent.
new david lynch this week: "inland empire"
"the illusionist" and "the prestige" were both entertaining.

Breach was a very tense thriller without resorting to all the action cliches
Army of Shadows if you are in the mood for a foreign film that is a little more oblique
Half Nelson is one of my favorite movies in some time. A crack addicted history teacher in an inner city school but it really isn't about any of those things. It's about dialectics, politics and personal evolution. And more importantly it's about characters you care about.
An older one, The Station Agent about the developing relationships between three lonely, quirky people is funny and involving.
I haven't seen Inland Empire yet but any of Renny's other suggestions would be on my list too.

If you don't mind either dubbing or subtitles you might want to check out THE HOST. It's a Korean film that I can only describe as a mixture of social commentary, GODZILLA and WHAT'S UP TIGER LILY? Fun movie with lots of laughs and frights!

The Host was a blast. I forgot that was released.

Speaking of Weeds, did you happen to catch the bathroom scene with the two main guys comparing sizes? I almost hurt myself laughing so hard. And Californication, with David Ducovny was very cool as well. We should all be so lucky.
