Glad that the TV special is finally in print. I have the "Prime Cuts" DVD, which included scenes from the TV special--but the entire presentation was reformatted for widescreen TV's, and the clips from the TV special looked especially bad, tightly cropped at the top and the bottom, creating some excrutiating closeups.
The Rhino DVD of the "Welcome To My Nightmare" concert film, released back during the early '00's, also contained a commentary track, a bonus, 25-minute interview with Alice, and a memorabilia gallery and game. (A nice reminder of that remarkably brief timespan when DVD's were considered at the cutting edge of home entertainment.) It would be nice to see at least some of that content ported over to this release.)
I'm kind of sorry that Shout Factory isn't behind this. I just went and loooked at my incomplete collection of Alice DVD's--they've been released by an assortment of labels, ranging from Rhino and Eagle to Epic, Geffen, and Sanctuary. The two Shout Factory titles--like WTMN, vintage 1970's films "Good To See You Again, Alice Cooper" and "The Strange Case Of Alice Cooper"--were both excellent. I hope that Eagle uses those two titles as their lodestar.

Did anyone here get this release? I am wondering what the quality is like for the "Alice Cooper: The Nightmare" TV special. I already have the old Rhino DVD of "Welcome to My Nightmare" (which is what the clip Linda posted above is from) so the bonus special is the only thing tempting me. I don't expect it to be great because I think it was shot on videotape, but I'm hoping it doesn't look too much like a dub of an old VHS.

I have it, but I hadn't watched any of it - until just now, because of this question. The quality is quite good - it doesn't look like a VHS dub to me. The picture is pretty crisp for the timeframe - there is some softness to the edges in some shots, but that seems to be more from the lighting. It doesn't have the graininess I expect from a VHS dub. The colors are good (when lit well), and at times it almost looks like it's on film (but I believe you are correct in thinking it was shot on video).

Thanks a lot for checking. I believe I will order it.
