The rise and fall of Tower Records really is the rise and fall of collector like us who were there from the beginning of collecting rock music as 45s in the 60s and 70s to the CD era. Talk about a must see film!

A roommate of mine was the top Ast Manager at the U District (Seattle) Tower Records for a number of years. My first paid industry job was also working at the Mercer Street Tower.

Looking forward to seeing this. The first time I went to L.A. in the 70's I went right from the airport to the Sunset Blvd store. Then afterwards, as a passing thought I best check in before I lose my reservation.

It should be on Netflix soon. We had a Tower Records right here in Massapequa and talk about being spoiled! The demise of Tower (there were Towers in Carle Place NY, Huntington NY and of course Massapequa Park NY) was the first clue the CD or physical media was doomed. And then it spread into Manhattan. Now there are no large music stores in NYC.

Amazon Prime has the HD version of this for rent for $0.99. Not sure how long this price lasts. You have 30 days to watch it and once you start to watch you have it for 7 days.

Btw.... I did watch it recently on Blu and it's a must see! Just a fantastic look at the 70s and the collecting vinyl craze that made everyone crazy (even Elton John as seen in the film).

Great documentary and made me nostalgic. The Tower Records in Carle Place, NY was a major reason I choose my law school (only on this board would people understand that logic). I pass by the old tower records in Boston to drive home once a week after teaching -- sad and amazing to remember what the building once held. I still remember scoring the Buddy Holly Story there in the early 90s. Memories....
