The "Blow By Blow" 5.1 mix has been around on SACD for few years, but I don't think I have seen "Wired" on a Hybrid SACD release yet. I'm in for that.

I'm guessing APO will do a remaster that beats the old CBS/Sony. Not that the CBS is bad, but imo APO does excellent work.

I hope they do a great job remastering them. I bought the Japanese CD's of Wired and Blow By Blow because the American ones sounded so awful compared to the albums.

Geff is correct. The few APO's I have are outstanding.

I'm confused...the remasters of these amazing albums by Vic Anesini in 2001 sound very, very good to me.

Am I wrong here?

I'm sure they're good. With a quality SACD player, SACD is even better!

A multi-channel release of Wired is due in November from Japan:

Those Japan SACD's are very pricey, I can see Wired selling to some who want the multi-channel but I think we are all set for quality stereo versions.

Nope, they are very good. Nothing wrong with them, the majority of the work he has done is first rate.

In my experience on a quality player with decent mastering, SACD always sounds better then CD; it's due to the much higher bit & Sampling rate. This one is a definite reality, based on audio engineering theory.

I have found the difference is not subtle; at least to my ears. You likely won't hear it on a cheap player.

In case anyone cares, I just did an a-b of Blow By Blow: the APO SACD vs the Japan Sony SACD.

Both have 2.0 & 5.1 options

In 2.0, I prefer the APO, though both are excellent. The APO is smoother & more Analog like.

The Japan Sony is louder, brighter & has more bass; & is also quite good.

I think Blow By Blow is not 5.1, but rather, an old quad mix.

It sounds good, but I didn't hear anything from my center speaker.

Geff, I have to ask -- any chance of you going surround in 2017?

Highly unlikely for financial reasons. If I had $'s to spend (I don't) on the amplification , cable & speakers, I have several higher priority purchases that woue first.

I need to buy medical insurance for my cats for one. I spent well over $14k on my last cat's medical bills throughout his lifetime (& had to sell some very expensive B&W speakers to pay for part of a kitty surgery), & I don't have any money today. My 2 kids are approaching 7; so far I've been very lucky with their health.

There's also music; if I had any spare money I would have bought the Ian Hunter box; quality concerns or not.
