Aerosmith will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their iconic 1976 album, “Rocks,” with a special edition release due out November 23, 2011 in Japan.

The release will coincide with Aerosmith's Fall Tour through Japan, which kicks off Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Kanazawa.

"Rocks" 35th-anniversary deluxe edition will include:

• "Rocks" Japan Edition CD (Jewel case with a replica of a golden spine onsert for Japanese LP sleeve)
• The First Japan Tour Programme Replica (28 page)
• The First Japan Tour Poster Replica (Nippon Budokan version)
• The First Japan Tour Ticket Replica (Fromt he first show at Gunma Sport Center)
• Japanese 7" Singles' Artwork Replicas ("Home Tonight" / "Back In The Saddle" / "Last Child")
• 4 Postcards of photos from the "Rocks" era
• All housed in a clear, plastic case

The band’s fourth album, "Rocks" was a commercial success for the Boston band, with three singles charting on the Billboard Hot 100, two of which reached the Top 40 ("Back in the Saddle" and "Last Child"). The record was also one of the first albums to ship platinum when it was released; it has since gone quadruple platinum.

A new Aerosmith album – their first of original material in 10 years – is expected next spring.

The band are currently on a South American tour and making headlines this week after Steven Tyler fell in a hotel shower, costing him some teeth, a black eye and a day’s delay for a show in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Aerosmith will mark the 35th anniversary of their 1976 classic, “Rocks,” next month with a special reissue.

Sony Japan have announced a November 2nd release date for the 35 Anniversary Commemorative Edition of “Rocks.” The two-CD set will feature the entire album, plus assorted rarities and live tracks from the era. More details are expected soon.

The release comes weeks before Aerosmith play an 8-show run in Japan, starting November 22 in Kanazawa.

FINALLY!
Something is finally being done with the back catalogue and hopefully all the classic albums on Columbia from 1973-82 will get the treatment. I doubt it.
I cannot see this not getting a US release and I sure hope it does because it sounds awesome. I think Rocks is one of the greatest American Rock albums ever made.
This has to come out here, right?

Ooh, ooh, now we're talking! Definite career highlight.

Why not buy it for every girl you know who says she likes Aerosmith cos she knows that crappy Don't Wanna Miss A Thing cheesefest, and watch their heads explode.

There were rumors of an SACD version years ago that never panned out.

I'll wait for the "Immersion Edition" which will include a long flowing scarf, a fifth of Jack Daniels, a baggie of coke, and a razor blade...

I hear that the immersion edition of Draw The Line comes with a syringe, some peruvian brown and a shotgun.

I don't know much about Aerosmith's archives, but I'm guessing the second disc will be a concert from the Rocks tour. Any guesses? Do they have anything heavily bootlegged like a KBFH or something along those lines from that tour? I consider some of those '70s albums to be as good as anything, but I've never clicked with them as a live band. I've only heard the officially released live albums and seen them a couple of times in the '80s (DWM and PV), and they were nothing special live.

Mixed feelings here. Imo this was there last great studio album, & I'd love to find a decent live show from this period. However the 2 I've heard ("live bootleg" & a kbfh) & the 3 times i saw them were all awful likely to drinking & drugs.

Hopefully it gets released here .Imo , this is the best they ever did and nothing by them since has come close . This album is what rock and roll is all about . I would love to know what the second disc would have on it . The unreleased stuff on Pandoras Box was nothing to get excited about .
I have to agree with I HATE MP3'S , the 3 times I saw them between 1976 and 1980 or 81 they were terrible . I can honestly say they were the worst band I have ever seen live .

I agree with everyone on here-a pitiful live act and Live Bootleg is a hideous, unlistenable live album IMO (though it's a ton better than their actual bootlegs). Of course, we all know the drugs were a MAJOR factor.
Ironically, after the drugs they made corporate sellout garbage with outside songwriting hacks, but became a seriously good live band. Problems is-you now had to hear shit like "Rag Doll", "Pink" and "Cryin' " along with the classics.
Regardless, Rocks is a masterpiece of the highest order and I will want this. Why this wouldn't get a US release is beyond me, but we don't get the majority of the good remaster series here anyway. But that's usually for UK acts not a US one!

I would not pay the big bucks for Japan release. Only of any interest if it's USA press due to $'s.

Didn't something like this happen recently with a Billy Joel title--an expanded 2-disc edition of an album in Japan released a few months ahead of a domestic version?

The Billy Joel "Piano Man(Legacy Edition)" was released only in South Korea....a year before the scheduled U.S.A. release.

I saw them in the 90's. I can honestly say they were the worst band I have ever seen live.

Until I saw Motley Crue.

I can't believe all the negativity towards Live Bootleg. It is a great live album. It was the first Aerosmith album I bought and it just is a driving, powerful live album. Seriously.

Maybe you guys are confusing this with the sub-par Classics Live albums, perhaps?

I saw the Draw The Line tour at Nassau and yep, they were bad but hilarious.

Well, I can't wait for the "Rocks" special edition. I have a Quad lp of this and would KILL for the SACD that was released and almost immediately withdrawn. The remaster CD is holding me over but I will not wait on this reissue.

Not in the least-Live Bootleg is unlistenable to me. I hated it as a kid and hate it now. "Back In The Saddle" is particular is horrible. Just sounds like drugged-out Aerosmith to me-though it's better than some of the trainwreck recordings from the late 70's that were not released.
But, that's just how I feel, and I've always disliked it.
