Universal Japan will be releasing a Lynyrd Skynyrd 8 cd set of mini sleeves in a box set on 3/28. Also being released on 3/14 is a Rod Stewart 6 cd mini sleeve box set. I don't know the dates yet, but Bad Company has 6 remastered titles and Foreigner has 7 remastered titles in the paper sleeve version.
I'm also curious as to whether there is any genuine interest in the Japan paper sleeves, and NOT at the ripoff prices being charged by the Big U.S. online retailer.

I really like the format but have found the CD's are in most cases identical (sound-wise) to the ones available on the racks here. Because of this I only buy select titles (I have to be a major fan). The packaging does make it hard to say no (examples - Lotus, Dark Side Of The Moon, WYWH, Pulse).

Hopefully the Skynyrd Box will have the "Flame Cover"

I'm interested in these mini-lp editions only for select titles that I must have.

Not to be an ass or anything, but the website you have has basically the same prices as many other retailers...at least that is what I have found.

For example:

Your site:
SANTANA - MOONFLOWER (2 DISCS)

SONY MUSIC MHCP 1008/9 PAPER SLEEVE
16 TRACKS + 3 BONUS TRACKS

$27

tower.com

http://www.towerrecords.com/Music/Defau ... oonflower&

...plus free shipping.

Maybe I'm wrong......but Tower at $36.99 and me at $27 are by no means the same. And......at $27, I'll include first class shipping anywhere in the U.S. At this time, the site can't be updated because the web designer charges me almost $2 per entry or deletion, but serious inquiries will get better pricing.....no make that the "best" pricing.

YOU'RE RIGHT! Wow...what a difference a couple of hours can make. This morning it was $27.99. My bad. You rock.

I only have the Rhino "Box set" the DCC Greatest Hits and the DVD Audio of Captain to compare the mini LP's to. I wish I had access to the early US discs but I sold those some time ago. If I can get a copy of an early US WB disc I will do a A/B and report back to you. The Captain DVD Audio is still my favorite sounding Doobies disc.

eelkiller,

No need, for I sold my early US discs as well. But how do the minis compare with the box set, in your opinion?

I am a big fan of Bill Inglots work so I like the sound on the box set better.

As noted in a previous Doobie Brothers post the mini's from Japan are excellent. Much improved from the early 80's Warner releases. And the gatefold reproductions are right on the mark.
