Wolfgang's Vault is offering members a free download of Frank Zappa's Oct. 13, 1978 early show. It's MP3, but since I'm a member, I'll take the freebie. They also have video on the site.

When WGV went MP3 only, I let my membership expire. I PURCHASED 48 flac shows from them before they discontinued offering lossless. F Them.

I don't get their going backwards, but I'm done with them as well. I let my membership run out as soon as they cut lossless.

I also emailed CS about this 2x & did not receive a reply. They used to be very good about writing back. My GUESS is the original owners sold out to some big corporation

Personally, I just can't hear that big a difference from FLAC to mp3 on a 35 year-old soundboard bootleg tape, and the price is sure right-- if you consider the 45 bucks a year membership, this two hour show show cost me 94 cents, or less than a single iTunes mp3. I've been happily listening to it all afternoon, and as I said, it sounds better than most of the bootlegs I paid (a lot more) for in my life.

Depends what you play it on............... I have a friend who is deaf in one ear who swore she heard a big difference between mp3 & cd on my main stereo.

very true-- plus my own hearing is far from unaltered.

this is an awesome show - I love the updated version of Village of the Sun - nice long extended solos.
