File Under"Rock"-what then,Jazz?
I'm sure this won't be the last of this. We might expect something like their version of Love Songs next.

This is actually Apple's (The Beatles company, not Steve Jobs' company) response to the Rolling Stones' live archive series. Way to go guys.

Seriously--Why all the anger and resentment? So the Beatles put together an I-Tunes package for download so that people just starting to buy music (i.e., teenagers) might buy it. This backlash only gives me flashbacks to when I was a kid--snooty hippies dismissing me for only owning "1967-1970" on cassette when they owned "Abbey Road" on 7 1/2 IPS reel-to-reel or something such thing.

I have no use for this, but as a compulsive collector, I would buy it if they released it in a physical format.

Anger?Resentment? I thought it was just fans of the music commenting on a particular release. Snooty hippies? It's a half-assed compilation that serves no one well.Don't you think people just starting to buy music might be bettered served by getting the albums as they were made, where some thought and care went into the process. I couldn't care less how people play their music. I've downloaded plenty of stuff from I Tunes-I think it's great. This comp sucks, and people here have a right to say so.Isn't that at least in part what this is all about?

The comp itself blows and any Beatles has a right to bash the collection AND the idea it's digital only. Also, NO teen is buying this-they've stolen the songs already.

Okay, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say that I think this actually looks like a decent little collection. With one or two exceptions, these are all tracks I would consider if I had the task of making a 14-track Beatles collection for newbies. I like that they kept this up-tempo and rocking, and yet still manage to present the variety that was the group's hallmark.
Would I buy this myself? Of course not, in any format. I already have these tracks. But there will always be people who are just getting interested in The Beatles and may not be quite ready to start buying all the albums as released. For them I think this would be a fine introduction. Anyway, I doubt many people could hear these tracks and want to stop there.
