Read about this over the weekend... essentially $150 for expanded packaging, since the album itself is not remixed or even remastered.

The price tag on this was shocking.
The announcement was made weeks ago but all the details were sketchy in terms of the packaging and nothing was mentioned regarding the price. Being a big Tool fan, I was planning on hanging around my PC all day (maybe even skipping work if necessary) and was looking to order 1 copy of each of the 5 versions. No announcement was made on the time of day it would be listed for sale on the website, only that it would happen sometime today, Based on the limited info that was out there, I was guessing the price would be something like $50 and the 5000 copies would quickly sellout. If it wasn't Tool fans grabbing them up, it would be the vultures buying multiple copies looking to flip them on ebay for a profit.
Got up this morning at 6 o'clock and was suprised to see the listings were already posted. Looked at the price tag and nearly fell off my chair. Needless to say, I didn't end up ordering 1 copy of each of the five versions. I ended up ordering a copy of version 1 and a couple other things out of their shop. I'm very curious to see if these sellout or not? The price tag is ridiculous but I'm a big fan and had really been looking forward to it ever since the announcement was made.

From a musical standpoint, the sad thing about it is that aside from a possible remastering there is also suitable bonus material (more of The Jello Loft recordings) for an expanded version of Opiate.
And it may take a bit, but I think they'll end up selling out the run. Never underestimate the fervor of the band's die-hards for "cool" collectable items.

All versions sold out. Already at least 29 listings on ebay by jerk-off's looking to make a quick buck.
