To my admitted annoyance, I noticed a while back that Walmart was selling DVD boxed sets of multiple seasons of "South Park", specifically Seasons 1-5 and Seasons 6-10.

In the meantime, as a relatively new Blu-ray household, last summer we purchased season 20 of "South Park" on Blu-ray, rather than the DVDs that comprised our collection of seasons 1-19. It looked amazing, although the season as a whole was kind of a bump in the road.

Apparently about 3-4 months ago, Seasons 1 through 11 (Season 12 was apparently the first ever released in both formats back in 2009) were apparently upgraded to widescreen HD and released individually on Blu-ray. I never knew this because I just never saw them on any store shelves.

Maybe that's a good thing; I was at Best Buy over the weekend looking for some Saturday night viewing--and lamenting the apparent lack of recent comedy films--when I saw a single copy of "South Park" Seasons 1-5 on Blu-Ray for 42.99. Ten discs, 79 episodes, and about a $100 savings as compared to the individual seasons. Bought it, brought it home, and have already gone through the first two discs.

Here is where it gets weird: Although I own the title, and the discs do appear to contain what they purport to contain, I'm not finding much of anything online to verify that this set even exists--nothing on Amazon, on http://www.tvshowsondvd.com, and Best Buy's website doesn't even mention it.

In other words, the set is out there--but you apparently can't order it from any online retailer.

As for a Season 6-10 Blu-ray collection (again, these are now available individually on Blu-ray, along with Season 11) it has apparently not yet been spotted out in the wild.

I saw a while ago that these were being released - had not heard there were bundles. I really wanted season one because it's supposed to include Matt & Trey's commentary. When season one was released, the commentary was only available on separate CDs because of some dispute, and I never ordered them (don't know if you still can or not). I didn't have much intention of replacing all my DVD seasons, but for $43, I'd jump all over a 1-5 bundle.

That's so odd about it's online absence -- that said, it's one of my very favorite shows and never fails to make me laugh. Love their whole sensibility.

FWIW, tvshowsondvd.com doesn't list either bundle, either.

When the re-rendered/remastered Blu-rays were initially announced as individual season releases, there was widespread speculation that multi-season collections -- at significantly lower prices -- would eventually follow. Like Stumpy, I had been interested in the DVD sets and came *this close* to picking the first one up over the holidays but I'm glad I held out.

I'm wondering if there's something in the current licensing agreement with regards to online sales for these BD compilations, but they can be found at Best Buy and Walmart.

As with the previous collection, certain Best Buy and Wal-Mart outlets are reportedly carrying a second "South Park" Blu-Ray collection--Seasons 6-10. I finally found one tonight at the second Best Buy I tried. As with the Season 1-5 box, neither of these retailers are listing the title online at all. (Wish I knew more about the reasoning behind this odd marketing strategy--other than if the goal was to make mare Wal-Mart visits in a single weekend than I've probably made in the past year, it succeeded.)

One note--I did see the Season 1-5 BD box at several places, so it is apparently a little easier to find than it was back in March.
