I decided to start a new thread here on the topic of the indexed version of Prince's Lovesexy because the original discussion, quoted below, appeared in the "prince - planet earth - packaging" thread in the New Releases forum. It's time this had its own thread, and the Planet Earth thread can be reserved for further comments on Planet Earth and/or its packaging.

I don't know if this was a common problem, or if it was intentional, but my copy of Prince's "Lovesexy" has all the songs on one track. Try ripping that! (And that came out long before most of us could rip music from CDs anyway.)

If it's worth it to you, the import of LOVESEXY is indexed. I think it's about $12 from Amazon UK.

I think it's worth it to me. But how do I know that I'm getting the indexed version?
One customer reviewer at
Amazon.co.uk said "This cd has only one track," but the next reviewer wrote "on my copy despite the CD label saying 'songs are in a continuous sequence' all the songs are have individual tracks, making it a 9 track album."

Hmmm. I noticed that the "one track" quote was from 2002. I don't know when the indexed version was released, but I read online that the Amazon import was indexed, I ordered it, and it was!

Well, I just ordered one, so I'll find out for myself in about ten days or so.
Total price was £7.31 (£4.23 for the CD plus £3.08 shipping, or "delivery charge" as they put it), which translates into $14.81 American (as of 2007.07.27 16:40:33 UTC) according to
XE.com.

I received it today, a mere four days after I ordered it - well in advance of their estimated delivery date of August 6-8.
Excellent service, considering it came all the way from the UK... although I
did pay £3.08
($6.26) for shipping... nevertheless, bravo to Amazon.co.uk!
Anyway, the tracks on this CD
are indeed indexed as individual songs.
The inside front cover of the booklet, and the disc itself (which was made in Germany), state "Songs are in a continuous sequence." Is it possible that by "continuous sequence" they're referring to the fact that each song segues into the next track, with no silence in between?
And there you have it... anyone wanting an indexed copy of Prince's "Lovesexy" can get one... so that's the topic for today. Good day.
