Hi there,
December 1st will be a big day for me. The Visitor will be coming to your town. I will be going to my town. You will be able to hear me and see me. My archive will open on that same day, a place you can visit and experience every song I have ever released in the highest quality your machine will allow. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. In the beginning, everything is free.
Lots of Love,
neil

What he means is that the Neil Young Archives will evolve into Xstream, his paid music streaming service, if he can get this concept off the ground.

If we're paying for 24/7 access to the stream, then in theory we should lose all desire to possess local copies of the music. That's what the major labels (and now Neil Young) are pinning their hopes on.

I. Don't. Think. So.

I have not yet found a 100% lossless uncompressed stream; + my home stereo & pc are not connected.

just left this site......as far as i can tell there are endless possibilities.......however, it will definitely take some time to figure the whole thing out......not real easy to navigate (for me at least).

i have no idea how long it will be free.

Listening to Harvest Moon via the timeline on neilyoungarchives.com and its excellent! really neat site. Thanks Neil!

btw....it will be free till June 30 2018.

Thanks for creating a Neil Young Archives account!

Between now and June 30, you’ll have free access to the entire Neil Young Archives with unlimited streaming. So have at it! (And don’t worry; once your trial is up, you’ll be able to sign up for a subscription at a very modest cost.)

These digital archives are the first of their kind: the best possible music streaming experience, coupled with access to Neil’s personal archives (videos, photographs, original manuscripts, press, letters, and more). We are so proud and excited to share it with the world—and while we may be the first, we’re hoping we’re not the last.

If you have any questions, check out our FAQ or drop us a line. And be sure to review the audio setup page to make sure you’re ready for the best possible listening experience.

Enjoy!
Neil Young & the Archives Team

I was on the site earlier today and was looking for unreleased material. Is it there? Or did I completely miss it?

Thanx for the reminder. The site doesn't work on my main browser (Pale Moon). Going to try it on the other 2 I currently use (Opera & Firefox)

The site doesn't work on any of my browsers. Wonder if it's flash based?

I'm 100% certain it is not the site but your over the top security paranoia, regardless whether it's flash or no. :)

(It does not appear to be flash based, having just given it a look)

The song I randomly chose is "Diggin' a Hole", which is a sweet blues track I've never heard before. :yay:

It works (slowly) on my Vista laptop, so it isn't security. It's likely a Java issue (there is no current Java for XP).

It may be a need Win 10 for this site issue. On the Vista, I found the site both very slow & not very intuitive to navigate.

You won't be able to use IE11, either:

Internet Explorer doesn't support High Res Audio.
Please visit the site using one of the following recommended browsers:
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera

I have Flash on my Win 10 boxes. I don't on Vista, so I expect the totally not working issue was that I've removed Java from my XP machines.

Haven't tried the site yet, but if it really requires Java then it's a total disaster. That can't be right.
