It may not be music related but I felt the urge to post it anyway. Mods, please move this if it's more appropriate to have it somewhere else.

This looks absolutely incredible for any fans of classic and foreign films. Criterion 30 Blu-ray set for $300 from one of the most legendary directors in film history (and the price will likely drop because $300 is the retail price). I'm by no means a Bergman expert but it looks like all the most notable films are included:
Summer With Monika
The Seventh Seal
Wild Strawberries
The Magician
The Virgin Spring
Through a Glass Darkly (OK, maybe not one of the more famous ones, but my personal favorite)
Persona
Fanny and Alexander (both the theatrical and television versions)

39 films total with lots of documentary and bonus features included.

Cannot wait to add this to my collection. It will look sweet sitting next to my Akira Kurosawa AK100 DVD box that was released by Criterion a few years back (would love to see a Blu-ray upgrade of that one!!!).

Collector's Corner is a good catch-all board for such things, so here it is.

I want this. Next 50% off sale, if I have the $'s ($299 list price; 50% off would be $150) I'm so in.

I saw this yesterday. I don't have a blu-ray player though. I've got most of these films on DVD or VHS but I'd really like to have a Criterion version of all of them.If you order directly from Criterion, the cost is $240.

A few weeks ago, they showed the 5 1/2 hour Fanny & Alexander at a theater in Los Angeles. Such a stunning and gripping movie, I had no trouble sitting in the theater for the length of this wonderful movie

I also much prefer the TV version to the theatrical version. I watch it every year at Christmastime.

I'd have posted this for Jimbo, but I will anyway. This should have been one of the bonus features on the new Criterion collection:

Amazon price tag looking really sweet for the non-B&N'ers. <$200

I received this collection yesterday and watched Crisis last night. Crisis was a first time view and it looked wonderful. A few very minor flaws here and there, but overall seemed to be an excellent restoration. It's a beautiful package and has all sorts of essays in the 248-page book. Looks like several hours of reading to supplement the 39 films. It appears to be another first-rate job from Criterion.

I've also been following the thread for this box at Blu-ray.com and it sounds like the sales for this collection have been pretty overwhelming. For retailers that have sold out, Criterion have said they cannot expect to be re-stocked until February. So if you want one right now, better see if you can find one in a hurry. Barnes and Noble say it's no longer available to order online. Amazon appears to be sold out. NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION AND IS NOT GOING OUT OF PRINT, it's simply a matter of getting more manufactured and in the hand's of retailers.

Pretty awesome to see something like this get such a positive commercial response.

I've watched 3 films. Everything about this box is superbly done. I'm also very happy that I was able to get it down to $130 + tax. Steal of the year!

Call your store to see if they have any left. I've read that both B&N & Amazon are temporarily sold out. Does B&N give rain checks?

I'd check B&N's website to make sure that the store has a copy. There are 13 B&N within 100 miles of me, only 3 of them still have a copy.

I'm sure they will do a rain check.

Wow, now looks like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, Walmart, Import CDs, Deep Discount and CD Universe are all sold out for online/website sales. Of the 13 B&N stores within 100 miles of my zip code, only 1 is listed as still having a copy. Really nice to see this type of collection have this much success. Hopefully it will inspire Criterion to produce more sets like this.

2020 will be the 100th anniversary of Federico Fellini's birth. Just a suggestion.

With the 50% off I'm not surprised. 39 great films in best ever quality on blu-ray for $150 is pretty much a steal.

Barnes and Noble and Amazon were going at it with the $150 price tag, but the lowest price I saw at Target was $240 and I don't remember seeing Walmart get below $200. I have noticed that if the Walmart price drops, then the Amazon price drops (and vice-versa) for expensive CD, Blu-ray, DVD sets...so it's possible that Walmart dropped it to $150 at one point and I never saw it. But I think non-Amazon/B&N retailers sold quite a bunch of these at a $200+ price tag.

I'm still actually amazed that the list price for this set was $300 when it contained 30 Criterion Blu-rays. Especially when the Criterion retail is normally $40 for an individual title on Blu-ray. If they would have advertised the set without having done a price announcement right away, I would have guessed a $750 retail. Frankly, I would have considered this set a steal even if I had paid the full $300.

Again, hopefully this will motivate Criterion to do all sort of collections like this one.

Only Fassbinder I've seen is "World on a Wire," but I would definitely be down for a big Fassbinder collection.

I suggest Berlin Alexanderplatz next. While I've got everything by Fassbinder ever released with English subtitles, imo Berlin Alexanderplatz is his best.
