http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/feature/cheap_ ... emastering

New mastering always scares me and the Japanese are no better than the rest of the world these days. But if the mastering is done right, this could be a wonderful reissue series. Really like how not only are they doing exact replicas of the sleeves, but are also doing replicas of the original OBIs. Does anybody know if Disk Union still makes limited edition boxes to hold these types of reissue series?

I have read over at the Hoffman board that these reissues are chocked full with bonus tracks.

I've ordered 3 to see if I like em. The usual suspects for me (Heaven Tonight, Dream Police and All Shook Up).

I am going for the self titled first, All Shook Up and it's a toss between Heaven Tonight and One on One.

I have the Aerosmith catlg on Blu-Spec 2 and they really sound great. Especially 'Rocks' which really needed an upgrade.

I will be curious if any bonus tracks are previously unreleased? Or are they from the Sex America box, Legacy remasters etc.

But nothing will get me to buy The Doctor. :D

Looked at the listings on Lawson/HMV and it appears some bonus material is from the Epic Archive series which is good as IIRC two of those sets are download only at this point. I will definitely grab the first four studio albums to start with.

Very impressive bonus tracks, but won't most of these surface on the upcoming rarities CDs?

Not all of them I'd bet.

Same 3 for me with the addition of their first which is my personal favorite and Standing on the Edge for the Jack Douglas mixes.

I received my order today and these discs sound fantastic! Very crisp, clean, and detailed (and not too loud). The early albums are improved from the nearly 20-year-old remasters, and the '80s albums sound much better than whatever was sourced for the Complete Epic Albums Collection. I'm finally done upgrading the Epic years. Now if we could just get Steven Wilson to remix In Color, Heaven Tonight and Dream Police.

How much louder than the early remasters..... In Color for example?

Wow, that's some acknowledgement. I should receive mine next week and hope to able to second that review. Thanks AJCC68.

Well, I took a chance and plunked down some dough for most of these ($157 including DHL shipping). There's not many left of the first 3 albums.

The ones I did NOT get are All Shook Up, One On One, Next Position Please, Standing On The Edge, and The Doctor. Those I have in the box set and are sub par albums, in my opinion. The others are great.

I'm still waiting to hear what these sound like...................

Any other opinions on these, these are very tempting given the bonus material.

Cool. Now I don't feel so bad for coughing up $150+.

So, howzit sound? What do you feel is the difference between the first remasters and these? I'm looking forward to In Color.

That is great news, the question now becomes which of these do I NEED? IIRC the Budokan set is identical to the "Complete Set" that came out her, is that correct?

My turn to chime in.

So far, I have listened to In Color. Very detailed sound. The bass sounds much better and it is a bit louder than the old remaster. But it's not IN YOUR FACE loud. The extra tracks are gems.

On to Heaven Tonight tomorrow.

If the rest of these sound as good as In Color, then it's my opinion that Epic dropped the ball on the recent box set.

IMO, this thread needs DR values along with "ear judgements." And no I'm not kidding.
