Interesting set, as 3/4 of it has already been released in h-r. It includes the 3 GD/UA studio albums (now owned by Warner/Rhino):

Wake of The Flood
Blues For Allah
Mars Hotel

AND an unreleased (in hi-res) 14 track version of Winterland October 1974. I would have liked to see Steal Your Face (the UA live album) in hi-res. The remixed/remastered cd's aren't that bad.

Unless the remasters of the studio albums are amazing (there's nothing wrong with the 2013 studio box); I'm not sure why there so far seems to be no standalone of Winterland.

Price At HDT is $53-$70 (depending on sampling rate) - 20% with code HDJAN26 through 1/29

Right now the only available link is to HD Tracks. Friday, the other stores will likely have it also; if anyone wants this, I'd suggest at least checking P.S.M. & A.S. for price. Possibly 7 Digital also.

AS & 7 Digital also have this. HDT has the best price; especially with the 20% off.

That "14 track version of Winterland October 1974" IS Steal Your Face.

Oops, thanks! That I want. Hopefully for those who bought the complete studio box (which has the other 3), they'll release Steal individually. I didn't think to compare; I somehow assumed it was part of one of the Winterland boxes.

A quick comparison between the 3 albums the 2 sets have in common:

The new set:

The 2013 set:

I find the new set to be SLIGHTLY better; mostly a little smoother. No difference in compression; to my ears there's a slight difference in eq.

If you don't have the 2013 box, this is worth picking up; I wouldn't suggest paying this kind of dollars just for Steal Your Face, as great of an album as it is.

It would sure be nice to see a box of the live stuff release on Warner, UA & Arista during Garcia's lifetime.
