This is a recent development. I first noticed it a couple months ago when purchasing a 192/24 Duke Ellington Download (but didn't totally realize the cause):
Same thing happened tonight on a purchase of a 192 Ralph Towner Solstice.
I also don't know if it impacts other players, or just the Oppo 95. The files play fine on my pc's. It also so far has only occurred with purchases from HD Tracks; not from any of the other hi-res retailers.
Their 96/24 Flac's still play fine for me on the Oppo, but the 192's are really distorted. The good news is their are several easy fixes/workarounds:
1. Buy the 192's as a wav & convert to flac on your computer
or
2. Convert to WAV then back to Flac with Trader's Little Helper, or I discovered tonight just having TLH "Re-Encode" the flac files does the job.
I discovered this workaround a couple years ago when having the same problem with an early version of FLV MP3 convertor in flac (they fixed the issue soon after I brought it to their attention; the current program now called "Total Audio MP3 convertor" is one of my go to's; mostly for blu-ray audio rips).
