"You Only Live Twice" was originally released with the film in the summer of 1967, ‘The Summer of Love’. The song is embedded in the minds of baby boomers and Ms. Cole's version reflects the sexy, smart, seductive tone of her new recording.

"I love to sing Bond tunes,” states Holly Cole. “They come injected with intrigue and sex appeal -delivered with a wink. I absolutely adore that."

I am just listening to this now, and it's great to hear Holly singing some more "modern", less covered tunes, like "You Only Live Twice", "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues", "Viva Las Vegas", "If You Could Read My Mind" and Tom Waits' "Whistlin' Past The Graveyard".

Several songs I'm not familiar with:

"Walk Away", a Tom Waits/Kathleen Brennan tune from the "Dead Man Walking" soundtrack;

"I Thought Of You Again", which is a Terry Jacks song;

"Love Lies", which is a Don Van Vliet song -- isn't that Captain Beefheart?

It's great to hear Holly return to the Tom Waits songbook for two tunes. Her all-Waits album, "Temptation", is a masterpiece.

There are 3 bonus tracks for Japan. "Tender Trap" is a studio track, while "Calling You" and "I Can See Clearly Now" are both live from the album released earlier this year.

Like her last self-titled set, this was produced by Greg Cohen and Holly.
