Edsel is proud to announce its reissue programme of the ten solo albums by country superstar Kenny Rogers, released on the United Artists and Liberty labels at the height of his worldwide popularity between 1976 and 1983, to be issued in five packages.

Kenny has clocked up 20 Platinum albums, and worldwide sales of 105 million albums. His popularity continues as he tours in the US and Europe frequently (most recently in Ireland, earlier in 2009), while there are even websites dedicated to people who look like him!

This first package contains Kenny’s first two UA albums, both from 1976, the first of which, “Love Lifted Me”, has never been issued in Europe in any format. It includes Kenny’s cover of “Abraham, Martin And John”. The second album, the million-selling “Kenny Rogers”, features the number 1 US and UK hit “Lucille” as well as covers of “Green Green Grass Of Home” and “The Son Of Hickory Holler’s Tramp”.

Both albums were produced by Larry Butler with the cream of Nashville’s session musicians, as well as Elvis Presley’s backing singers The Jordanaires and both albums have been unavailable for many years. The booklet is fully annotated by Country Music People contributor Tony Rounce.

This second package contains Kenny’s third and fourth United Artists albums, from 1977 and 1978. “Daytime Friends” was another million-seller and features the # 1 hit title song as well as “Sweet Music Man” and Kenny’s cover of the Eagles’ “Desperado”.

The title track of “Love Or Something Like It” was another # 1 hit and the album also features a new version of “Momma’s Waiting”, a song he first recorded with the First Edition.

The third package contains Kenny’s fifth and sixth United Artists albums, from 1978 and 1979. “The Gambler” sold five million copies in the US alone and features the # 1 hit title song as well as UK hit “She Believes In Me”. It was also the Country Music Association’s 1979 “Album Of The Year”, while Kenny was voted Male Vocalist of 1979.

The “Kenny” album sold three million copies in the US and reached # 7 in the UK album chart. It features “You Decorated My Life” and Kenny’s biggest worldwide hit “Coward Of The County”, a huge # 1 hit in both the UK and US.

Both albums were produced by Larry Butler (Johnny Cash, Crystal Gayle, Don McLean) with the cream of Nashville’s session musicians, as well as Elvis Presley’s backing singers The Jordanaires.
