Likely going to sound harsher than I truly intend. Having recently seen Bobby and Wolf Brothers (and a great show it was), I am also pleased to see this release. I feel these avenues are likely where their hearts are versus say Dead and Co. That is not meant to bash D&C (ie like Dead & Slow etc). I have seen and enjoyed D&C, and there is a lot of demand for them, but much like the Grateful Dead in the last few years, there is a (honorable) desire to please their audience, and while not to be too callous, D&C is definitely more financially rewarding than their individual endeavors (I understand that John Mayers' management team really motivated the whole Dead & Co to be ongoing endeavor due to the rewards). It just seems that in some ways - while they are not enslaved or miserable with D&C - there is a bit of restrictiveness to their expression due to expectations and the whole 'been there, done that' reality, where their individual artistic expressions allow them to grow and follow the same zeitgeist that has motivated them (including Phil and Bill) for decades. That definitely was my take away from the Bob and Wbrothers shows (and boy has Bobby developed into a mighty fine lead guitarist as well (with the same idiosyncrasy he has demonstrated as perhaps the most under-rated yet interesting rhythm guitarist of any significant band of the last few decades).

So way to go Mickey!
