When I saw the subject of this thread, I thought "At last! A Miles Davis release I can safely skip. I have three different CD versions of this material, as well as a 70s record of the sessions." But I clicked on the thread, then clicked on the Amazon link, and it really seems like a nice package. It includes the live radio show as a second disc, which I don't have on vinyl, and a nice looking booklet with a new Ashley Khan essay, so...Yeah. I will probably bite. Gosh darn you, Dental Floss Tycoon! (Sorry for the strong language).

The past year or so I went back and picked up all of Miles' individual vinyl LPs from his early Savoy sides all the way through Decoy; mostly recent reissues (no desire to pay "collector" prices for original pressings). I sold all my individual CDs but still have all the CD box sets. Still would like to get the eight Mosaic vinyl Miles sets, though they are hellishly expensive. Hoping to stumble across one in the wild. :ohyes:

Those would be nice to have. Sony did a terrific job on the CD versions, but those vinyl sets must be amazing. I was too cheap to pick them up when they came out. Actually, it took me quite a while to adapt to the prices of box sets in general. Compared to what we see now, those vinyl sets were pretty nicely priced at the time of release.

These eight and the Bill Evans Vanguard set are the only Mosaic boxes I do not have. Bouncing between eBay, amazon, and discogs I managed to score second-hand copies for excellent prices over the years (patience is definitely a virtue). I bought about half of the sets new directly from Mosaic.
