I can't fault the sentiment, but Carlos could give Jon Anderson a run for his money as a space cadet. I saw him play shortly after Jerry Garcia passed, and he just went on and on about Brother Jerry and spirits and oneness and anything else that jumped into his head.

Happy ubuntu to everybody! :o

I know what you mean, Jimbo. I've been reading these Carlos quotes for many years and they are all a bit earth-hugging. One of his solo albums is called "Oneness - Silver Dreams - Golden Reality", and I'm pretty sure it's found its way into your home. But still it's nice to have people like Carlos around to remind us to be good. Someone buy a pair of clogs for that man!

A more realistic title would have been "Oneness - Golden Dreams - Silver Reality".

Damn-we already threw out our ubuntu tree and I'm not ponying up for a new one. Maybe next Unbuntu.
I seriously think Carlos, Steve Perry, Jon Anderson and Stevie Wonder have their own planet complete with post office and zip code.

Funny, my sister used to run into Carlos frequently at work and she said he was pretty stuck up for someone so full of love for humanity.

Not everyone is good at one-on-one meetings. Carlos' heart is in the right place, trust me. He contributes a lot to charity of all sorts and has even got his own foundation, The Milagro Foundation.

I know all the focus is on Paul and Heather, but here is a celebrity divorce I thought never would happen: Carlos Santana will divorce his wife Deborah after 34 years, due to irreconcilable differences. Which means this year's season's greetings will be from Carlos only.

Carlos Santana to become a church minister

Oct 6, 2008

Carlos Santana has revealed plans to retire from music and become a church minister.

The veteran guitarist plans to retire in six years time, and eventually start a church in Hawaii, according to Rolling Stone.

"I'm going to stop playing when I'm 67 and work on what I really want to do, which is to be a minister, like Little Richard," he told the magazine.

He added, "I'm not sick of what I do, but I find that God gave me the gift of communication even without my guitar and with the ability to get people unstuck with certain sections of the Bible having to do with guilt, shame, judgment and fear."

The musician is set to release his 38th album, 'Multi-Dimensional Warrior', on October 14.

Too bad, Carlos once said he'd play music till the day he died. Hope I can squeeze in a few more concerts before the final bow, I've ONLY seen him nine times!

A public engagement: Santana proposes onstage
Monday, July 12, 2010

Image

NEW YORK (AP) -- Carlos Santana is smooth: The guitar god has gotten engaged after proposing onstage to his girlfriend, drummer Cindy Blackman.

The proposal came during a tour stop Friday in Tinley Park, Ill., outside Chicago. His representatives say he popped the question four songs into the concert after a Blackman drum solo.

She said yes, and they sealed it with a kiss, which was met with cheers from the crowd.

The multiplatinum-selling Grammy winner ended a 34-year marriage to Deborah Santana in 2007.

Blackman is a top drummer who has worked with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Cassandra Wilson.

Santana says that he and Blackman are blessed to have found each other and says being in love "is a gift from the universe."

There are some good songs on the Clive Davis albums, "Supernatural" is already a modern day classic now, has gotten the Deluxe Edition treatment. :)

I was just having some fun because it's Santana. I was surprised to read that Carlos remarried. I knew he was getting divorced, but had no idea he had a girlfriend.

Best wishes to him, but I hope he had a pre-nup.

I wonder if he heard about Macca's divorce settlement?

Maybe he should follow the politicians of recent times and try and condense his message to a convenient sound bite for 2010,I prefer the snappier "Peace and Light"( to evelope all of humanity).

Has anyone tried his brother Jorge's album Malo from 1972 ?
I've sampled it on Amazon and think its rather good sharing a lot of similarity with Santana's Latin percussion and rock-jazz fusion licks.
That cover apart from the title, looks strangely art deco styled from the 1920s,or like a Valentino movie.

Yes, Master Hare, you need Malo in your collection. Rhino Handmade released a box set of all four albums. But if you only get one, make it the first album.

Carlos Santana Weds in Hawaii

By Us Weekly
January 6, 2011 10:40 AM EDT

Carlos Santana, 63, knows how to make any event, well, smooth. And his December 19 wedding was no exception.

When rain threatened to mar his Maui nuptials to drummer Cindy Blackman, 51, the guitar legend -- who split with wife of 34 years, Deborah in 2007 -- opted for an indoor ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton.

PHOTOS: Hollywood's most romantic weddings

Santana and Blackman, who has worked with rocker Lenny Kravitz, swapped vows in front of 180 guests, including celeb pals George Lopez and Herbie Hancock.

Highlights of the ceremony? The pair washed their hands in a bowl of rainwater to absolve themselves from all things past and released a set of doves.

Post nuptials the twosome, who got engaged during a concert last July, enjoyed a honeymoon in Hawaii.

Good for him. But can't Carlos be a minster with a guitar?

Does this absolve Carlos from the Guitar Classics album?

It was a bowl of rainwater, not a barrel!
