The Greatest. Didn't even need a name to know who they meant when they said that. Consummate showman, entertainer and champion, Howard Cosell calling an Ali fight was pretty much close to boxing perfection.

RIP.

Oh my God. I didn't realize it was going to happen. THE GREATEST BOXER OF ALL-TIME! And a great man, leader, crusader and a true hero.

Love this man, his convictions were never shaken no matter what the pressure and there was plenty of that. Even having to stop fighting in his prime for not giving up on his beliefs and convictions marks a man for everyman to acknowledge what a true human being he was.

God Bless you and for love, strength, leadership and of course the greatest historical fights I ever seen.

Going to pull out one of many docs on "The Greatest" tonight.

Rick A.

Truly The Greatest.
It was said that for a time he was the most well- known person in the world.

Great boxer, great man. There will never be another like him.

Rest In Peace.

I remember like yesterday listening to the radio for round-by-round updates of the first Ali-Frazier fight at MSG. RIP to The Greatest.

I'm not going to say I'm shocked by this, but I am very saddened. One of the things I enjoy is the ability to look up to the truly peerless. Often now, there seems to me to be this desire to tear down the best, in order to either avoid hurting the feelings who aren't, or to show that they aren't any better than the rest of us and make ourselves feel better by comparison. If there is a Muhammad Ali in this world, it forces you to question just what you're doing with your life; to carry skill with pride, difficulty with grace, and to stand up for your beliefs even if the entire world is telling you your wrong. And for close to 50 years, the legacy of Ali doing just that, in my opinion, literally changed the world.

But just to highlight what kind of impact this man had, I found out while watching the MLB network at about 12:30. And they stopped running highlights of last nights games, and talked Ali. And checking the channels, 6 different networks - CBC, CNN, TSN, Sportsnet, MLB network, and NFL network, were all talking Ali; not a little bit - the modern 24hr wall to wall approach. This morning, and NFL.com has Obama's memorial posted. And the most powerful man in the world said how much he looked up to this man.

It's a cliche in sports that Father Time is the one athlete who remains undefeated; Ali's legacy is such that he will become immortal, like Shakespeare - an entertainer who changed the world forever. So for Ali's very last, very long, fight, I'm going to go ahead and call it a draw.

Rest in Peace champ.

Jason

I never followed boxing much, but back then, whenever Ali was in a fight, you always heard it. It was always news and I always rooted for him to win.

And of course there was the time that he took on The Beatles and he won that won too.

Mike Tyson on who'd win between he and Ali, if they bought found when they were 20. Question is asked at the 4:08 mark, so jump to there.
