I am truly gutted at losing one of Rock's legends.

I saw Motorhead 4 times live and passed on seeing them this fall in Philly, but I wish I had gone.

There will be NO ONE like Lemmy again.

I knew his health wasn't too good but was hoping for the best.

A true rock & roll original who pushed himself really hard. He'll be missed.

The real deal for sure. If he's in Heaven, I'm pretty sure he's raising Hell. If he's in Hell, look out Lucifer. The last thing Lemmy would want is to rest in peace.

Back in 1982 when I was in the Army, I saw this German kid wearing a Motorhead t-shirt. I thought it looked cool as hell. So what did I do? I bought No Sleep Til Hammersmith. Can ya imagine that? Buying a record based on how cool you thought a t-shirt looked? Been a fan ever since.

Anyway, I was shocked when I saw this on the news site I visit.

RIP. A true rock legend. He always stuck to his guns and did it his way. I have been a huge fan since they first toured the USA with Ozzy on his first solo tour back in 1980. I was lucky enough to see them live about 10 times and it was always a great show. It's sad that we will never hear "we are Motorhead and we play rock 'n roll" again.

My son is at the Wild/Red Wings game tonight, and he says they have played two Motörhead songs so far.
Sort of a mini tribute by whoever picks the music.

I'm in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Center waiting for a (Grateful) Dead & Company show. They've been playing Motörhead on the PA system since they started letting people in.

I'm really sad about this, but it doesn't come as a surprise to me. He looked tired when I saw him this year, and I suspected he didn't have much longer. Major illness and his lifestyle just wore him out. But for 35 years, he's been one of icons of hard rock, punk, and heavy metal, and now that he's gone, it's entirely possible that he's kicking God out of his comfy chair, and replacing it with the Rainbow barstool so he can keep doing what he's been doing all along. Cause we've known for at least 25 years that Lemmy is God.

and as for fighting through it all, I checked, and his last show was 3 weeks ago, after he and the boys finished a bunch of European dates.

I also expect that for a fair amount of time, there will be a number of bands who say "We are _____________, and we play rock and roll".

Thanks for everything, Lemmy.

Jason

I didn't really get into Motorhead until the last few years, but I've known about Lemmy for years. The real deal. Someone on another board said "Lemmy was what the mainstream thinks Keith Richards is." A total straight shooter.

If you haven't seen the doc Lemmy yet, you should. It's a fascinating film. It ends with this fabulous piece of music - I e-mailed the producers, and they said it was from a solo album Lemmy had worked on. I hope it comes out some day.

But THE moment of the film, and a true testament to the man - Lemmy and his son were sitting in his apartment, surrounded by all his memorabilia. The interviewer said, "So, of all the stuff in here, what do you think is the most valuable thing?" There's barely a silence between the end of the question and Lemmy's answer. "My son. What else would it be?"

RIP, Lemmy. You were Motorhead. And you played rock and roll.

All of this affection and respect everywhere, I mean everywhere...and the Rock Hall of Shame has never even nominated Motorhead.

Frickin' idiots.

You know it's coming now.

And you also know Lemmy is already giving them a middle-finger salute.

(Classic Rock) Former Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke says "the world seems like a really empty place" now his former leader Lemmy has died. The rock icon passed away on Monday.

Clarke was a member of the band from 1976 until 1982. Along with drummer Philthy 'Animal' Taylor - who died last month - he was part of the classic-era lineup. They appeared on five albums together: their 1977 self-titled debut, 1979's Overkill and Bomber, 1980's Ace Of Spades and 1982's Iron Fist.

Clarke says: "I have just been told that Lemmy has passed away in LA. Like Phil, he was like a brother to me. I am devastated. We did so much together, the three of us. The world seems a really empty place right now. I am having trouble finding the words... He will live on in our hearts. RIP Lemmy!
