Taiyo Yuden are about the only decent discs left, & CMC is considered one of the worst brands out there. This is likely going to shorten the longevity of all available blank discs; as TY was pretty much the only decent brand left. I don't know how much real TY is still out there. I usually buy them here:

"Here's the scoop on JVC/Taiyo Yuden's announcement regarding CD-R & DVD-R

Dear [Contact],
Big changes are in the works for JVC/Taiyo Yuden users over the next couple months. Here's the story on what is happening:

In June of 2015, JVC announced they would no longer be manufacturing high-quality Taiyo Yuden engineered DVDs & CDs as of 12/31/15. This is based on their Philips license expiring. In November, CMC announced they would be buying the Taiyo Yuden technology, and begin making media using Taiyo Yuden dye and proceedures in their Taiwan plants. This new product will become available in late February or early March. We have a limited supply of product made in Japan by JVC available during this transition. The latest on this new product is that it's still in testing, but it's expected to be available in the next 45 days.

So, you're probably wondering what our plan is at Media Supply. With some manufacturers leaving the business, and others selling their names or technology to other (sometimes less reputable) manufacturers, we wanted the ability to offer our customers a line of premium, high-quality discs that they could depend on, that wouldn't be affected by changes in the industry. Below you'll find information on our new MediaPro Premium blank media. If you have questions about this Taiyo Yuden change, contact us via email or call 1-800-944-4237 for more info."

I brought most of an entire case of Taiyo Yuden CDs last year at an auction. I have enough to keep me going until i'm 80+
There is probably about 500-800 of them

I also got 200-300 DVD-Rs Mitsubishi (old stock) These are great quality.

Geff, which of the TY CD-Rs do you recommend from Media Supply? Both of the links included in your original post were for the DVD-Rs. Thanks!

I can't speak for Geff, but I use the watershield CD-Rs with the white surface for printing. They have been solid performers since I started using them.

Good for you! I wish I had the $'s to stock up right now, but I don't. I may buy 100 more dvdr's.

Geff, before I buy the wrong thing -- isn't this the same product? (It's cheaper than what you've been linking to.)

I don't know why; but Media Supply's stock scans SIGNIFICANTLY better (error scan) than anyone else's I've tried over the last 3 years or so (I have not bought directly from Amazon due to the sales tax; but I have bought from a number of suppliers).

I also recommend buying the "tape wrap"; because they no longer put enough spacers in the plastic container packaging style, & the discs bounce up & down during all phases of the shipping cycle (factory-consumer).

If you prefer to buy from Amazon, try to find the "pro's" in TAPE WRAP packaging.

Another I don't understand why's: The "shiny silver surface" scans better for me then any of the printable surface discs. It SHOULDN'T make any difference, but it DEFINITELY does.

Yeh, I only buy from Amazon. At the link I posted above, it does say "Shiny Silver" so that would be the better version?

Yes, but let's see if we can find you the tape wrap..................

I'd suggest buying THIS ONE:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007R6B6FI/?tag=imwan-20

That is an excellent price; probably because of the sale to CMC it's discontinued.

I s/w Media Supply today. They expect to have stock through early March. They have not seen the CMC/Ty's yet. Their new in house AZO discs will be minuses ONLY. They told me the ONLY other + on the market they're aware of is Verb; & since Falcon stopped making Verbs, I've stayed away from them.

I'm going to try to buy a couple hundred, but I don't have the $'s to buy case lots like I would prefer to do.
