May she rest in peace, but God help me, the first thing on my mind is the SNL clip which offered a new album of Natalie Cole singing duets with other dead celebrities, including Tammy Wynette (alive at the time) who is seen saying Tammy: "I'm not dead..." Natalie: ♫ I'm not dead... ♪ Tammy: "...you f***ing bitch!" Natalie: ♫ ...you f***ing bitch! ♪
Very sad news. I love her R&B music, and her albums of jazz standards, along with Linda Ronstadt's, encouraged me to explore (and fall in love with) the music of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, and, of course, Nat King Cole. Thank you and farewell, Ms. Cole.
The funeral of late Grammy Award-winning singer Natalie Cole will be held on Monday (January 11) in Los Angeles, with Chaka Khan is expected to sing at the service.
Cole passed away on December 31, with her family recently revealing the cause of death to be heart failure brought on by a rare lung disease. She was 65.
A service for the singer – the daughter of Nat King Cole - will be held at West Angeles Church of God in Christ. She will then be buried next to her parents, sister and brother at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
