I am a big user of Amazon UK lately, however the packaging on the last 3 orders was either too big, or just came apart with the goods either scratched, chipped or cracked.
Has anyone else had issues with Amazon UK in particular with packaging?
I am really pissed off this time, the recent order had 6 CDs all damaged, had to return the lot.

I've been lucky in the last few shipments (but I rarely order from the UK).

I get alot from Amazon UK. Yeah, their packaging is scary. I have had packaging looking like it was thru a shredder. Thank God so far no damage to the merchandise.
On other note, I did not receive my "Flock of Seagulls" and without question or delay upon notification they had sent me another copy and was received in 5 working days. Wow, now that's customer service!

I have had problems with some LPs that I've ordered from Amazon UK. Twice now, they were packed in an oversized box with just some heavy craft paper as inside packing! When I contacted them, they asked if I could send them a picture of the mangled LP jacket, which I did. They promptly replaced my complete orders. However, I just don't understand if they are going to sell LPs -- and ship them internationally -- you'd think they would invest in some sturdier LP packaging materials!

I am imagining all these guys in an Amazon warehouse just throwing the items into a box "that fits OK, I'll just throw 'em in that box" And the poor buyer that paid 80 British Pounds for the lot is the end receiver of that. I guess we don't live in a perfect world.

Actually, Amazon UK (and most EU retailers) are heavily pressured to use 100% recycled "green" packaging, which is why what we receive is of lesser quality than the boxes from Amazon USA and Amazon Canada. I don't believe that Amazon UK feels they have a choice in the matter.

I hate the fact that you don't have a nice local Amazon Australia. It's been my experience that packages of 1, 3 and 6 CDs (single discs, not doubles or box sets) tend to be packed tighter in the three default Amazon UK packaging sizes, and they arrive more securely. The damage to your package of 6 ruins my ordering theory, though. So far I've only experienced the occasional jewel case or tray damage, and I just replace them myself. But that has happened to me with domestic orders too.

I just hate when it's either a Double Super Jewel Case or a case with an irreplaceable sticker on it that arrives cracked.

Back during the 45 day delivery problem with Amazon UK (around Christmas), I made a 5 CD order. When it finally arrived, the packing was not a box but was one of those cardboard wrap arounds that kind of folded into a box-like package. Alas there was too much slack in the box, there was no bubble wrap or balled up paper, nothing, so the CDs had flopped around, and the cases of 2 of them were moderately scratched.
Because they were extremely late in arriving, I reported the problem, and they sent a replacement order which took 33 days to arrive. It was also shipped in the same type of cardboard wrap around fold-into-a-box package, with no bubble wrap or stuffed paper. These CD's arrived in a worse state, 3 of them were severely cracked, it looked like someone had stepped on the package.
Since then, not knowing if there was still a long term delivery problem, I have made all my Amazon UK orders in units of 2 CDs only. They have arrived in a 9 x 13 cardboard envelope. They get here really fast, this week I've had several deliveries that took only 5 days, and there is generally less damage.
I had an Amazon US order that arrived today, 8 CDs, and they came in a wrap around cardboard fake box, too. I don't remember seeing these wrap arounds from Amazon US before. No bubble wrap or paper stuffing, 7 of the 8 CDs were perfect, one had a huge deep scratch in the case which could not have been caused during shipping, it looked like a knife wound someone made while perhaps opening a shipment from the manufacturer.
Previously my multi-CD orders from Amazon US arrived in regular boxes, packed with those big style plastic bubbles, and frequently some of these large bubbles had deflated during shipping, and thus the CDs had flopped around.
It seems like it's all hit or miss. I wish I could figure out a formula like Linda, but I haven't gotten there yet, ugh...

I just got a mail order from Best Buy with multiple box sets that weighed several pounds in a BUBBLE MAILER! I was amazed the thing arrived in one piece. I have no problem with quality bubble mailers for smaller packages, but this was something like 15 items, mostly boxes.

The jewel cases that came with Queen 2011 Re-Masters are those weird ones that are not easy to replace or I would have done just that. Thanks again

I've had tight packaging, but no real damage issues.
The most recent thing I got from Amazon UK was the Blondie - Panic Of Girls magazine edition, it it was packaged very nicely in a big box with protection....the magazine looks fine.
I'm awaiting the second round of Kinks reissues....hopefully they arrive in good shape.

Now I'm nervous. Recently ordered 14 discs from Amazon UK, and so far they are being sent as follows: -package of 8 (Royal Mail) -package of 2 (Royal Mail) -package of 1 (Deutsche Post) -package of 1 (Deutsche Post) -2 titles backordered
That package of 8 concerns me, especially because it contains 4 of the latest batch of Queen remasters and I would like the super jewel cases to be intact on those. I haven't had a whole lot of experience with Amazon UK. Generally I've found the packaging to be lacking but haven't had anything severely damaged. Generally the condition of jewel cases don't worry me too much, but those Queen remasters are the exception as it's not so easy to replace the super jewel cases. The only thing I had ordered prior to now and was concerned with was the box for the Queen remasters and fortunately that showed up in good shape.
The one thing that bothers me about Amazon UK is that it's always an unknown if they will be shipped by Royal Mail or Deutsche Post. If it's a new, fairly high-profile release you can be confident that it will be by Royal Mail...but any older catalog title is always a toss-up. I live in an apartment and if it's shipped Royal Mail the package will get left at the manager's office which I love because it's an easy pick-up for me. If it's shipped Deutsche Post it always requires my signature and then I have to go to the local post office which is a hassle.

Got my Kinks discs today. It was one of those tight long cardboard packages that have the side tab you pull out,...not great by any means.
The CDs are fine.

I've had more issues with Amazon US packaging than with Amazon UK.

Here's a good one. I've been waiting 3 weeks for the big package to arrive with the second batch of Queen remasters, the latest Thin Lizzy remasters and one or two other CDs.
The package arrived today - completely freaking empty. The only thing in the box was the receipt. One end of the box was taped closed and the other end was closed, but no tape. Somebody re-closed the thing, it seems.
Just contacted Amazon and I'm sure they'll send another, but another damn 3 weeks to wait??

CDs may be a dying medium but apparently they haven't quite reached the "not worth stealing" phase yet.

I just received a package from Amazon UK that included only 6 of the 8 CDs that were shipped, almost certainly because neither end of the package was sealed. Amazing that even 6 of them survived the trip intact. Very frustrating.

Took 3 weeks for the first (empty) box to arrive, but only 11 days for the replacements. A pleasant surprise! Another nice job by AmazWan UK.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced long shipping times from Amazon UK to the US recently? For a long while I was receiving orders approximately 2 weeks after placing them. However, I the last order I placed was on June 16 and haven't gotten it yet. It was shipped Deutsche Post DHL which historically has taken longer. I didn't get any sort of link where I could track the package. I remember for a time about 18 months back where everything shipped from Europe to the US took about 2 months to show up, but I haven't had an experience like that in a long time. Just debating if I should contact Amazon UK just yet or wait a couple more weeks? I would hate to have them ship out another set of discs only to have both arrive and then I'd have to ship one of the two sets back.
