Had a very nice experience Saturday nite. Wifey dropped me off at a local tiki bar that we occasionally hit. After two or three or six beers I decided to load the jukebox. I got my ‘70s on and stocked it up with early Genesis, King Crimson, Zappa, Yes, Deep Purple, and Sabbath – I played only deep album cuts. It was early in the nite so it was mostly blue hairs in attendance, and we all started discussing the bands and tunes, concerts we saw, and had a good old time remembering vinyl! Some were amazed anyone knew any of these tunes. We all cleared out by 8:00 when the nose-picker crowd started showing up. A memorable night for me.

That's what I love about music and that time period. Many of us of this age recall the great concerts we saw. Many of the younger kids when told the shows I had attended jaws just drop. But yeah, those moments with strangers really bring a light on what we experienced.

Many times when I wear my rock & roll shirts I get the same reaction.

I saw my first rock show in 1978, but most of the people I spoke with saw their first shows in the '60s and early '70s. I was totally envious when I heard some of the groups they saw!

That reminds me of a woman I used to work with in the late 90's. She was about to go see Loretta Lynn in concert, and she told me it was going to be only her third concert ever. I asked who else she saw, and she replied, "Elvis Presley and the Beatles."

Wow, what a trifecta!
