I'm talking about the much-maligned Mike Love solo album. This one:

Over in our thread for the expanded remaster of Ricci Martin's Beached, ICErs are discussing what the next Beach Boys-related vault release should be. The album by The Flame currently tops the list. But if some enterprising reissue label like Real Gone, Iconoclassic or Omnivore were to put out Looking Back With Love as a Super Deluxe Edition, with good remastering, bonus tracks, a hi-res 5.1 surround mix, and a thick booklet with photos and informative notes ... would you buy it?

(I would.)

Not me, never had that one. Is it really that good? and 5.1?

I can't say I'd be inclined to...'80s BB albums are about 80% unlistenable for me, and Mike's contributions never ranked high on my list.

Maybe Curt Boettcher production would help, because I do like a lot of his stuff, but I've only heard this album referred to as a punch line.

Yes, I would.

Was there a Celebration (featuring Mike Love) album, or just the "Almost Summer" single? It reached the Top 30 in 1978, very Beach Boys-sounding.

I definitely would.

Jim: there was indeed a Celebration album. Would be a good twofer with the Almost Summer soundtrack.

I have this on LP. It's been decades since I heard it. Didn't care for it much initially but it may be time for a reevaluation.

A 5.1 Super Deluxe? No, would be major overkill.

A Real Gone or Iconoclassic reissue, yeah I would be interested (but mostly for being a Beach Boy completist).
