Oops! I mentioned this "upstairs" but I forgot to say anything about it down here: I've been invited back for this year's rock marathon, and my show airs this afternoon at 5pm (Eastern time) to 7pm. This year's theme is "Songs The Beatles Gave Away" The playlist can be found at the end of the thread I've linked to in my initial post above, and you can stream the show live from the link in my second post above.

I hope y'all listen in and enjoy the show! :yay:

I don't visit IMWAN as much as I used to, but something told me I should check it today! Coincidentally, I've been thking seriously about delving more into the "songs that the Beatles gave away" recently as I have minimal knowledge of that topic. 5:00 can't come soon enough for me! :-D

Another thoroughly enjoyable show, Frank! THANK YOU !!! There were plenty of songs included that I'd never heard before! And even the songs I already new sounded more enjoyable in this context!

Thanks Jon! We had some "technical difficulties" at the top of the show (welcome to live radio! :D), and of course, I talked so much we had to drop a few songs from the playlist, but it was another enjoyable experience. They're getting a new station manager after the marathon is over, so I'll be re-submitting my volunteer application to see if can get some kinda regular/semi-regular gig outta this.

Unfortunately, no. Although the technology exists at the station for them to do it, it's my understanding that UVA's lawyers have, so far, not allowed them to take advantage of it. This is another thing on the new station manager's "to do" list.

Marathon time again! I'll be on the air Monday night April 8th from 9pm -11pm. I'm doing a show on the music of Apple Records! I'm putting together the playlist this weekend, but I know for sure that I'll be leading off with "The Lady Is A Champ" by Frank Sinatra (I think leading off with Sinatra may be a Rock Marathon first! :)). This was a one-off single recorded by Frank specifically for Maureen Starkey's (Ringo's wife) birthday, and was officially the first Apple Record ever manufactured (to test the presses & the labeling), after that.... the sky's the limit. So if there's anything any of you would like to hear, now's your chance to make a request!

You're not going to play "Fly" in its entirety, are you?

It's that time again! I'll be hosting the show "#14 On The Charts" on Saturday night April 12th 7pm EST, and assisting on at least two shows: Professor BeBop's "1964" show, Monday night April 7th at 7pm EST, and Dusty Garwood's "Mellotron" show Saturday night April 12th at 9pm EST.

You can live stream it at http://www.wtju.net (which is where you can also get the schedule for the whole marathon)!

My curiosity piqued, I got out my Pop Singles Annual and discovered many pop and rock classics peaked at #14 on the Billboard chart, not the least of which are "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Give Peace a Chance." I wonder if those are on Frax's playlist?
