I have several Moore/Bruce concerts with various drummers.

My question is: why did they NEVER play any of Moore's classics? On everything I have, There's lots of Cream, & some BBM, but nothing from Moore's solo catalog.

Also. if anyone knows, is this why they only worked together for a relatively short time? Watching the recent Rockpalast set, it really looked like they were best friends. And musically, the collaborations were great.

I'm currently watching a Hal Leonard "instructional" dvd, that includes several live in the studio jams from Bruce, Moore & Gary Husband on Cream classics. Very good stuff.

I don't know the answer to either question, but Jack never really worked with anyone for an extended period of time. He would come back and work with people again and again (Baker, Trower, Michael Mantler ) but only for a while.
It may have been because he was a restless spirit, always looking for something different, or it may have been because people could only take so much of him and then needed a break. He was excited to work with Mick Taylor and Carla Bley but they didn't even stay together long enough to make an album.
Taylor called him "the most frustrating and musically interesting person I've played with".
I agree about his work with Moore-there's some great stuff there.

I THINK (i'd have to look) he did a couple recorded collaborations (songs) with Bley when he was in the Kip Hanrahan circle.

Interesting point: publicly, Baker was always said to be the hard one for others to get along with. Having personally never met Bruce, you may have good point there!

That "instructional" video is really good. There are complete versions of all the songs (6-8 or so).

In addition to the killer performances, Bruce tells a pretty funny story about the origin of a Cream song title on the dvd.

Per Bruce, it seems that "NSU" stands for "Non Specific Urethritis" (i.e. VD) which according to Bruce a certain guitarist in Cream had at the time!
